  • This product works great and at a great price. Some have complained about the butter falling out and into the water. All you have to do is make sure it is dry, then SMUSH the butter into the keeper and it will stay. Make sure you keep cold to cool water in it every several days and it will work great. BE CAREFUL THOUGH BECAUSE SOMETIMES IT CAN BE SLIPPERY AND YOU COULD ACCIDENTALLY DROP IT AND IT WILL BREAK. I DID THIS ONCE BUT ORDERED ANOTHER ONE. THE ROUND HANDLE ON TOP IS KIND OF SMALL SO YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHEN PULLING IT UP OUT OF THE WATER. I am very pleased with the product and price : )

    I recommend this product.

  • Great deal on this! I'd been looking for several months for one but all I could find were rather ornate and cost $25 or more - ridiculous. This one is perfect - it holds one stick of butter and will match any kitchen decor.

    I recommend this product.

  • I'm very pleased with this butter keeper. It's so nice to have soft butter anytime I want it! The handle on the lid is shaped in a way that makes it easy to grip. It's simple to use, keeps the butter nicely, and is a lot less expensive than most other brands.

    I recommend this product.

  • Great way to keep butter fresh!

This is the best way to keep butter soft but fresh. I keep it on the counter all year. Change the water every couple of days to avoid staleness. This was a replacement - I broke my first one which I purchased at a gourmet food store for 5 times the price of this one. I like the simplicity of this one.

    I recommend this product.

  • Butter Tastes Good!

This porcelain butter keeper by Norpro holds exactly one stick of butter and keeps it fresh for days as long as one changes the water in its base every couple of days. The butter is always spreadable at room temperature and has all the fresh good taste of newly purchased, but it doesn't tear the bread. If the butter isn't going to be needed for awhile, just put it in the refrigerator until a few hours before using it. I keep two of these butter keepers at all times: One in the fridge ready to replace the one being used at the table. Buttering cooked vegetables is the easiest it's ever been, since the butter spreads right onto the hot veggies, melting down into their steaming goodness. And fresh-baked bread and rolls? The soft butter lends its wonderful flavor to the tenderness of breadstuff right out of the oven. Tear off a piece - it's too hot yet to be able to slice - and slather on some soft, spreadable butter from the Norpro butter keeper and enjoy one of life's greatest pleasures. And the price is definitely low enough to make such joys very affordable. I am much pleased with this purchase. I've used other butter keepers, but the shape and size of this one is perfect. Thank you for making this product available.

  • Too small

It's a good product for the money, but I didn't like how small it was. Plus, the white was too bright and the ceramic was too thin. Ended up exchanging it for the Emile Henry, which is a much better quality.

  • cute little keeper

Fit and finish seems good. Instructions were easy to understand for those that have never seen a butter keeper before. For larger families the size is a little small.

  • No more hard butter

I have fought for years with butter. If you leave in the fridge it is too hard to spread. If you leave it on the counter it goes bad. Now I can do just that leave it set out so it is spreadable but it does not spoil.

    I recommend this product.

  • Soft Butter Rules

My new Norpro porcelain butter keeper is simply the best way to have and to hold butter. The butter stays fresh, and is always ready to spread. No more torn bread, or waiting for the butter to melt or soften. Filling it with softened butter takes only a minute and it hasn't fallen out yet. I simply love it and urge all who like soft butter to get one. Cooking.com gave me a fair price and excellent service. Thank you.

    I recommend this product.

  • Didn't work for me

I have owned the original Butter Bell in addition to this model. While this model is much more sturdy, I had difficulty determining the amount of water needed to make a seal for butter freshness without adding enough water to soak the butter. There are no instructions. Maybe the one I received was made slightly off-balance.
