There must be at least a hundred different and delicious ways to enjoy the traditional not-quite-noodle, not-quite-dumpling dish known as spaetzle, but before you can begin discovering them, you need the Norpro 4.5-in. Stainless Steel Spaetzle Maker. It rests easily on top of any medium-sized pot, ensuring that the spaetzle dough falls directly into the boiling water below rather than all over your clean stovetop. The square, stainless steel hopper fits neatly into the spaetzler and slides back and forth smoothly over the flat surface, which features a comfortable Santoprene handle on one end to provide a sturdy grip and ensure that everything stays in place while you work. Once the dough is poured into the hopper, the sliding action pushes it through the many evenly spaced holes on the spaetzler, which are just the right size to form uniform noodles that cook quickly and evenly. For those new to this versatile dish, a recipe is included with the Norpro Spaetzle Maker to help you get started. Best Used For: With the Norpro Spaetzle Maker, the hardest part of cooking fresh spaetzle is deciding how to serve this incredibly quick, simple and tasty food. Try frying it, substituting it for noodles in soup, serving it with a little Parmesan cheese, herbs and browned butter or eating it with a zesty tomato sauce. Features:
  • Stainless steel constructions offers durability and rust resistance
  • Santoprene handle offers a secure and comfortable grip
  • Spacious square hopper keeps fingers safe
  • Cleaning & Care: Handwash
  • Dimensions: 12-in. x 4.5-in.
  • Material: Stainless steel
  • Origin: China

  • It is impossible to make spaetzle without this tool. As a native Hungarian, now a citizen of this country, grew up on noodles shaped like spaetzle, thanks to the internet, I was able to find you. Now I can have my goulash with spaetzle (in German) dumplings (in America) nokedli (in Hungary)

  • I purchased this as it seemed to be a less expensive alternative to a food mill.. I guess its true "you get what you pay for".. the first one arrived bent and unusable as it would stick in the track.. Cooking.com sent another right away.. while this one is better I dont think this is nearly as good for spaetzel as a food mill, at least for me.

  • Great cooking tool!

We're of Hungarian descent and my son, daughter and I all regularly make chicken paprikash with dumplings. The old way was to chip the batter off the side of a bowl into hot water. When making a big batch, this gets tedius and the dumplings keep getting bigger. I bought a circular spaetzle maker, and although it made the job easier, it was so hard to clean that it ended up being the same amount of work. This sapetzle maker is easy to use, makes adorable little dumplings in no time (even triple batches) and cleans up effortlessly. I bought one and then bought two more for my kids. At this price, you should give it a try.

    I recommend this product.

  • Norpro Spaetzle maker concerns

I ordered two Norpro Spaetzle makers, but only one arrived. Cooking.com customer service apologized and sent me a second one, which arrived promptly. But, there were two in the package this time, making a total of 3. I called Cooking.com again and explained and they told me to keep the extra. Good thing they did, because when I opened one (the other two had been planned as gifts) I found it was defective. The metal had been shaped upside down, meaning the sharp edge faced in and the first time I used it, it shredded the plastic holder. It would have been a disaster with shredded pieces of black plastic in my spaetzle. The other two appear to be OK, although I am a little skeptical about the black plastic. My old, non-stainless steel, spaetzle maker is all metal which may be a better design.

So, tentatively, I would recommend this product. The selling point for me was that it was stainless steel and wouldn't rust like my old one. I will have to see how they hold up.

    I recommend this product.

  • Bought this to replace another spaetzle maker which had rusted. It makes fantastic spaetzle, fits easily on my big pot, and hopefully won't rust since it's made out of stainless steel. The cushioned handle is a nice addtion as well. Definately a good buy!

  • This tool is indispensable for making traditional spaetzle. I recommend this high quality tool, as it will hold up to multiple use, and is easy to clean. I prefer it over the lesser quality made materials, such as plastic parts.

  • This product works as advertised, making smaller sized dumplings (spaetzle) with ease and little mess. Easily fits over most large pots, resting at the top, which allows use of that second hand for adding more mixture when necessary. The dumplings are perfect for traditional meals like chicken paprikas.

  • Being Austrian I make Spaetzle quite often, and this Spaetzle Maker is such an improvement over my last!
Since it is Stainless Steel it didn't rust the first time I washed it, it glides easily and smoothely, and as the handel is integrated it can't melt like my last one when I put it on a good size pot!

    I recommend this product.

  • The tool is very well made, works smoothly and is easy to clean. My only objection is that the recipe produced a batter that was too runny to really work well. Instead of spaetzle, I got something more like wallpaper paste. The taste was okay, but there were no individual little noodles. Having said that, though, I'd still purchase this nifty little item!

    I recommend this product.
