I have an original Spaetzle Maker from Germany which my parents bought before I was born. My father has been looking for a stainless steel spaetzle maker for himself since I was given the original one. This stainless steel model is very well crafted and is very close to the original. I am surprising my Dad with this at Christmas time. If you have never eaten Spaetzle before, you don't know what you are missing! Homemade noodles pressed though this machine, then drained and then fried in butter. YUM!

While I loved the product, waiting for it to arrive was impossible. I used the Super Saver method of shipping as I did not want to spend more on shipping than what I spent for the product.

The tool is very well made, works smoothly and is easy to clean. My only objection is that the recipe produced a batter that was too runny to really work well. Instead of spaetzle, I got something more like wallpaper paste. The taste was okay, but there were no individual little noodles. Having said that, though, I'd still purchase this nifty little item!

A little pricey for the quality

Bought this to replace another spaetzle maker which had rusted. It makes fantastic spaetzle, fits easily on my big pot, and hopefully won't rust since it's made out of stainless steel. The cushioned handle is a nice addtion as well. Definately a good buy!

Spaetzle

I'm going to make a traditional German dinner and wanted to have Spaetzle so this was the best device for that. I've already practiced and am very satisfied.

Norpro Spaetzle maker concerns

I ordered two Norpro Spaetzle makers, but only one arrived. Cooking.com customer service apologized and sent me a second one, which arrived promptly. But, there were two in the package this time, making a total of 3. I called Cooking.com again and explained and they told me to keep the extra. Good thing they did, because when I opened one (the other two had been planned as gifts) I found it was defective. The metal had been shaped upside down, meaning the sharp edge faced in and the first time I used it, it shredded the plastic holder. It would have been a disaster with shredded pieces of black plastic in my spaetzle.The other two appear to be OK, although I am a little skeptical about the black plastic. My old, non-stainless steel, spaetzle maker is all metal which may be a better design.

So, tentatively, I would recommend this product. The selling point for me was that it was stainless steel and wouldn't rust like my old one. I will have to see how they hold up.

great gadget

All I have to do is get the dough the correct consistency. The spaetzel maker works like a dream. Easy cleanup.

I have a Germany friend that I met about 17 years ago at Walmart. She's 78 years old and still works at Walmart. She needed some help with some repairs at her house and my husband and I went over to leaned her a helping hand and in return she cooked us some dinner. She had a spaetzle maker. It was the first time I had seen this gadget. I was amazed how it worked. So I decide to order one and use this "noodle" in place of rice or potatoes on some occasions. It's very easy to make the wet dough and it's fun to watch the noodles hit the boiling water and bam you have a fresh product. My first dish was like mac and cheese dish. I sautéed some onions and basil in olive oil and then as I made my spaetzle I scooped them out of the boiling water (with a slotted spoon) and place them in the pan with onions. Once I finished with all the dough I tossed them in the pan for a few seconds (coated them with the oil )then I added some shredded cheese and butter. This was a quick and easy side dish. Because I'm from South Louisiana flavor is important and some kick is required. So i'm working on a wet dough with a kick. But these simple ingredients that I had in my pantry and fridge made a great side dish in less then 20 minutes. If I wanted to make this a main dish I could've added some chicken or shrimp. If you have young children they will love to see the dough turn into little ball shaped noodles. This gadget is easy and fun to use. You can take traditional recipes and add a new twisted by using the spaetzle maker. Have fun and enjoy...

I have a similar one of plastic. This is MUCH better. I made spaetzle for our church dinner group and it was easy. Good product, good price, AND it arrived quickly. Thank you for your quick response to orders.

great tool

This spaetzle maker is very easy to use, cleaning is a breeze too. I definitively recommend it if you want to make short spaetzle, it will not make the long spaetzle.

very pleased with the quality,washed well and didn't rust. dumpling recipe received worked well with the addition of a little more flour. Used it to make haluska[my family is of Hungarian descent].Can't wait to try dumplings for Chicken Paprikash! My mother always said I made the dumplings too big,this solves that problem. Great product!
