Bring multifunctional efficiency to your kitchen with the OXO Good Grips Fat Separator Strainer. The 4 cups of capacity let you work with family-sized portions of gravy, and the easy-to-use design of the strainer reduces the chance for spills and wasted gravy. A large handle with a nonslip grip lets you hold the strainer in place as you pour gravy into the cup and makes it easy to maneuver strained liquids around the kitchen or stove area. The strainer snaps into place at the top of the cup, catching food particles so you can create smooth, silky gravies and soup bases. The pouring spout is partially stoppered, keeping fat from coming into the spout as you pour the liquid back into your mixing bowl, pot or pan. Pour gravy into the separator and watch as lean, healthy and flavorful liquid separates from fatty substance — the fat will rise to the top. The OXO Good Grips Fat Separator Strainer is marked with ounces, milliliters and cups, ensuring you always know exactly how much gravy you have. Whip up complex sauces, gravies and soups by relying on precision measurements to get the flavor just right. The separator can also double as a traditional measuring cup. Simply remove the top and stopper, and you have a precision pouring instrument perfect for use in making cakes, pancakes, breads and any item where liquid measurement is required.

  • Before the Oxo Fat Separator, I had used the ones made of glass. They always felt so fragile I was nervous when using them and storing them. The Oxo Separator is amazing. It is very user friendly. It has a large capacity, is very heat resistant and is easy to see through as you pour. A very minimal amount of fat was left at the bottom. The strainer allowed more liquid to be reserved when pouring off. I purchased the Oxo Separator as a gift for my mother and showed her how to use it over Christmas. I think I will order another for myself and get rid of my glass version.

    I recommend this product.

  • Not quite sure what to think

I have only had one opportunity to use this so far. It seems that I needed more drippings to separate so that the cup would work properly and this was from a 20# turkey. I tried adding some broth to the contents in the cup to make the fat rise to the level where it wouldn't pour out with the good drippings. This seems to have worked better and I liked the rich broth this made. I have seen smaller versions of this separator and maybe this would resolve the problem. I am not sure that it is worth the considerable investment for someone who rarely roasts large pieces of meat.

  • Worked Exactly as Advertised

We used it yesterday for the first time. Our old separator finally gave up the ghost after 20 years and this is the replacement. The plug in the spout kept the fat out and the large capacity was needed with the volume of liquid from the pan. Highly recommended!

  • OXO Fat Separator

This item solves a problem I've had for years. All too often, my sauces and gravies came out greasy. With this item you just pour off the excess fat. Last Thanksgiving, I got rave reviews on my gravey. One guest remarked that he could just eat my gravey with a spoon instead of putting it on spuds or stuffing.

  • Great if you cook Stock as often as I do.

The shape adn structure of the item is well suited for what it does. For large amounts of stock or broth it perfectly separates the liquid from the fat.. It does not work for small amounts and technically nothing out would be effective in small amounts. I use this item all the time now and like what I see.

  • like it but...

My new fat separator came in handy for the holidays but I still don't understand the spout plug. It's suppossed to keep fat from going up the spout BUT as soon as you remove the plug some fat rises up there--a mystery I've yet to research. Still, glad it's in my cooking toolbox.

  • Large Capacity and Smart Design

This is without doubt THE BEST Separator/Strainer on the market! The large capacity ensures one step straining, and the strainer basket is a handy addition to the separator when straining stock! I love the black stopper in the spout. It keeps the fat from moving into the spout; a clever and simple design feature.

  • Love OXO products!

I think this is the only OXO product I didn't own. Like most other OXO products, it's well-made and ergonomic. I love the 4-cup capacity. Love the strainer. (Although one may also want to use cheesecloth to really catch all, as the holes of the strainer are not very fine.) Still, I love it!

  • it really works

Having just used this for thanksgiving, I can tell you that this product works brilliantly and is effortless. I was told that the gravy was the best people had had. The straining cover for the top of it is excellent and makes it so easy to separate the solid pieces from the liquid pan juices. Then pouring off the fat is a cinch! It cleans easily as well. Don't hesitate to get this item.

  • Great Timesaver

I can't believe it took me this many years of spooning off the fat before I found this product. My Thanksgiving gravy was so easy this year (and also delicious). If you only cook a turkey once a year this product is worth it's weight in gold! Cooking.com, as usual has great packing and prompt delivery.

  • fat separator

I have used this a few times in the last month and it works well. The only problem is, if you don't have enough liquid to go above the level of the bottom part of the spout it doesn't really work. In that case you need the smaller size. But overall I like it. The other way to separate the fat is to let the liquid chill and then the fat will rise to the top and you can scrape it off.

    I recommend this product.

  • This is a great product and it's durable. I couldn't be happier with it. You can pour the drippings into it and not worry that if you hit it with your pan that you'll break it. This is a wonderful product.
