kind of splatters
I bought this rice cooker especially because my old one was very messy. This one unfortunately also splatters a lot even when I prepare 1 or two portions only. It is still a good machine because of the non stick basin and it's compact. It also works well and makes rice just fine. I would recommend placing it in the sink while cooking so you only have to clean up the cooker, not the counter or wall too.

In 2006 we obtained two rice cookers within a couple weeks of each other. The 4-c. Rice Cooker by Cuisinart works better than cooking rice in a pan of the stove top, but it pales in performance to the other rice cooker we obtained which is a ZOJIRUSHI.

Sure there are the fancy rice cookers with timers, but doesn't setting the timer take time and thinking and organizing? I prefer simple, put the rice and water in and turn the know to cook! Simple, easy and less stuff to break.
This is the rice cooker for those who like it simple and easy.
Have never owned a Rice Cooker. Took some time and did limited research on lesser priced modles and decided on this model Cuisinart. Been a very happy camper with the choice I made. Easy to use; easy to clean up and makes very good rice. If you are looking for an inexpensive rice cooker then buy this one.

You really can't over or under cook your rice because you just turn the cooker on and it turns itself off when the rice is done.
I have several other Cuisinart stainless appliances and love the look, and the quality of them.
Modern classic looking design from a well known and reputable company. Interesting concept (that works, too) in having the steamer basket option to go on top of the nonstick rice cooker insert, with the glass lid on top of the steamer basket -- and when not in use the steamer basket fits down into the rice cooker for storage. The only added option I'd have wanted would be to having a rice-gruel cooking setting (although very few folk would probably ever use such a setting).

This smaller rice cooker is perfect for 2 - 3 person dinners and takes up much less valuable kitchen space than the more common rice cookers one sees for sale. Well designed, it also looks good sitting out on the counter. First several uses have generated perfect rice!

Boil over is bad. I'm thinking of returning the product.

I bought this to cook brown rice, and it does it twice as fast as the oven method I used to use, and it turns out perfectly cooked every time, with just the right degree of chewiness. It's nice to be able to throw all the ingredients in, turn it on, and forget about it until you're ready to serve the meal. And it looks very nice on the counter, and matches my Cuisinart coffee maker!

I have had to adapt the way I use this rice cooker because it seems to be running too hot. As the water begins to boil, it spits out through the sides of the lid (it does not fit very snugly) and gets all over the counter. So much water escapes that the rice ends up burning, even with extra water added. What I have done to counter this is turn the cooker on until it starts to boil, then immediately switch it to the warmer mode and let the rice sit for about 15-20 minutes that way and it turns out perfect. It is too bad that it is so messy and that you have to watch it cook rather than just leaving it to work on its own. The small size is really great for saving counter space. If the lid fit tight enough to prevent leaking, this would be a must-have! However, as it is, if I had not recycled the box, I would return it.

quick and easy to use also to clean
good value
An attractive, compact rice cooker. Cord is retractable, and shape fits easily on a crowded counter. With the stainless steel steamer placed over the rice, you can steam vegetables at the same time as the rice is cooking. Very clever, and all the components store inside the unit. A real bargain.

I like to purchase kitchen products that allow for a variety of uses and this rice cooker does! I was pleasantly surprised that it is a steamer and best of all a good way to make traditional oatmeal during very busy mornings!
Actually, I have not used it to make rice at all!
Loved it
Cooks rice and other things perfectly every time

Is soooo good looking in my kitchen, as I have a small kitchen space. A very nice product in every way. I will probably order the same for my winter residence in Florida this year. Thanx

This is the first rice cooker I have had, and it has performed flawlessly cooking white rice, brown rice and quinoa and farro grains for up to 4 people. I have used the little measuring cup which came with the cooker and have not had the problem mentioned in other reviews of the water spilling out. The model i got did not have the retractable cord it was said to have -- has Cuisinart discontinued it? Attractive square design and feels substantial. One small limitation which it may share with other rice cookers-- when making a pilaf, I tried sauteing the onions in the cooker before adding the rice and it wouldn't heat beyond

I have used this rice cooker/steamer 3 times since it arrived: twice for the same recipe (aspargus parmesan risotto which came in the booklet that accompanies the machine). Easy to use, easy cleanup. For just the 2 of us, this is the perfect size: just enough leftovers for lunch the next day. I had wanted a rice cooker/steamer for ages and am glad I chose this one!
