  • This is not only great looking with the stainless steel retro look, but it is simple.

Sure there are the fancy rice cookers with timers, but doesn't setting the timer take time and thinking and organizing? I prefer simple, put the rice and water in and turn the know to cook! Simple, easy and less stuff to break.

This is the rice cooker for those who like it simple and easy.

    I recommend this product.

  • comparative rice cookers

In 2006 we obtained two rice cookers within a couple weeks of each other. The 4-c. Rice Cooker by Cuisinart works better than cooking rice in a pan of the stove top, but it pales in performance to the other rice cooker we obtained which is a ZOJIRUSHI.

  • This is a great rice cooker. After having tried several others, I finally decided to keep this one. You really can't over or under cook your rice because you just turn the cooker on and it turns itself off when the rice is done.

I have several other Cuisinart stainless appliances and love the look, and the quality of them.

    I recommend this product.

  • Cuisinart rice cooker

It did fine for 2 cups of rice, but I find it hard to believe it can cook up to 7 cups. The cooking basket is pretty small.

  • Poor Directions

I liked the rice cooker itself. I found the Instruction book very frustrating and not clearly written. This is complicated by the inclusion of a rice measuring cup that is actually 3/4 of a cup. They refer back and forth in the book between the "rice cup" and a standard 1 cup measure. I found it strange that there are no portions for Basmati rice. I really think the book could have been written more clearly.

    I recommend this product.

  • great for white rice; not for brown

This inexpensive and small rice cooker works beautifully for small quantities of white rice. Be advised, however, that it boils over a bit when cooking brown rice (and the maximum quantity for brown rice is 1.5 cups).

    I recommend this product.

  • Cuisinart rice cooker/steamer

I have used this rice cooker/steamer 3 times since it arrived: twice for the same recipe (aspargus parmesan risotto which came in the booklet that accompanies the machine). Easy to use, easy cleanup. For just the 2 of us, this is the perfect size: just enough leftovers for lunch the next day. I had wanted a rice cooker/steamer for ages and am glad I chose this one!

  • Messy!

I have had to adapt the way I use this rice cooker because it seems to be running too hot. As the water begins to boil, it spits out through the sides of the lid (it does not fit very snugly) and gets all over the counter. So much water escapes that the rice ends up burning, even with extra water added. What I have done to counter this is turn the cooker on until it starts to boil, then immediately switch it to the warmer mode and let the rice sit for about 15-20 minutes that way and it turns out perfect. It is too bad that it is so messy and that you have to watch it cook rather than just leaving it to work on its own. The small size is really great for saving counter space. If the lid fit tight enough to prevent leaking, this would be a must-have! However, as it is, if I had not recycled the box, I would return it.

  • Love it!

Great value, nice look and solid construction, and it made perfect rice with no sticking in ten minutes! Haven't tried the steamer yet, but expect it will work just fine for broccoli or sliced carrots.

  • Love it!

This is the first rice cooker I have purchased. I picked this one because of the great reviews it had. I really do love using this cooker. The rice turns out perfect without me having to babysit it! We like Basmati rice and after a few trials we starting using the exact measurements that it has on the bag and not the measurements in the booklet that comes with the cooker. It turns out PERFECT! I would highly recommend this rice cooker - a very good investment and small enough to store yet big enough to cook lots of rice!

    I recommend this product.

Practical, easy to use, looks great, takes the guess work out of cooking rice. I also used the steamer while cooking my rice and it steamed the vegetables perfectly. Can't beat it!

  • Excellent rice-cooker

This is a wonderful little rice cooker. It works just as advertised, and cooks/steams perfectly! The only problem I have run across is that the instructional booklet lists cooking times for every kind of rice except short-grain white rice, so I didn't know when to start steaming the 3 eggs. I decided to start steaming at the same time as the rice cooking (then pull the eggs out when they were done and leave the rice to finish), but it ended up that they took the same amount of time. :-)

I would recommend this to anyone who likes rice or steamed veggies!

  • No more soggy brown rice!

I bought this to cook brown rice, and it does it twice as fast as the oven method I used to use, and it turns out perfectly cooked every time, with just the right degree of chewiness. It's nice to be able to throw all the ingredients in, turn it on, and forget about it until you're ready to serve the meal. And it looks very nice on the counter, and matches my Cuisinart coffee maker!

    I recommend this product.

  • Have never owned a Rice Cooker. Took some time and did limited research on lesser priced modles and decided on this model Cuisinart. Been a very happy camper with the choice I made. Easy to use; easy to clean up and makes very good rice. If you are looking for an inexpensive rice cooker then buy this one.

  • Perfect Size - good looking

Previous rice cooker was too big and consumed valuable counter space. This one is also attractive enough to leave out.

Only negative is it often times spatters around the lid when cooking, requiring that the exterior of the unit be wiped down.

    I recommend this product.

  • nice little rice cooker

This is the first rice cooker I have had, and it has performed flawlessly cooking white rice, brown rice and quinoa and farro grains for up to 4 people. I have used the little measuring cup which came with the cooker and have not had the problem mentioned in other reviews of the water spilling out. The model i got did not have the retractable cord it was said to have -- has Cuisinart discontinued it? Attractive square design and feels substantial. One small limitation which it may share with other rice cookers-- when making a pilaf, I tried sauteing the onions in the cooker before adding the rice and it wouldn't heat beyond

    I recommend this product.
