As with all Calphalon cookware, the poacher is top quality and will hold up under many years of use. The lid fits the 8" skillet too. Bonus! The best feature is the glass lid allowing you to see cooking progress without lifting the lid. I get PERFECT poached eggs every time. There is no guesswork. No matter what nonstick surface used eggs stick to it. When I grease the cups with a thin coat of butter the eggs slide out easily every time. The other "secret" is using the right amount of water; too much and it takes much longer to poach whereas too little might boil off before the eggs are done. About one half inch of water is magic. On a gas range the water boils in less than three minutes giving you a perfect three minute egg in just under six minutes from start to finish. I'm more of a four minute egg person but that is up to individual taste. If you have a large family you might want the one that does more eggs at once. Otherwise you can't beat this product, it's well built, cleans up easily and produces perfect poached eggs cooked to your personal taste.
