These skillets are well constructed heavy weight cook pans that can be used both on top of the stove and in the oven.
The only reason you would need to use butter or oil is for flavoring or for the frying aspect of a cooked product as it is not needed to keep the food from sticking to the pans.
They clean easily with a little soap and water. They are truly a good addition to any kitchen,( with the exception of people who have problems with their hands due to the over-all weight of the pans)

The coating is way too thin and everything sticks to the pan, even if using Pam spray. Terrible as compared to pans bought 5 years ago.

Excellent Product - Surperb Price

This is the 2nd set that I have bought. I loved mine so much that I bought a set for my daughter. These are really nonstick skillets and are easily cleaned. I have used very little oil if any to fry and saute dishes. The sizes are perfect and the set is a tremendous addition to my regular calphalon cookware.

Not crazy about these skillets

by Janice, CA
February 5, 2009

I was very disappointed with my skillets. When I bought them I thought it was a good price for both. I threw my old skillets away because everything I made in them would stick unless I used a lot of oil (they were pretty old). I read a lot of the reviews and thought wow these must be pretty good since everyone I read said they loved these skillets. I couldn't wait to make eggs (over easy) in my new skillet since they were one of the things that stuck. Well, what a mess. I used very little oil and they stuck so bad I couldn't turn them over without breaking them and making scrambled. I was very disappointed.

2-pc Nonstick Skillet Set by Calphalon

March 10, 2008

This set is excellent value. I have used Calphalon cookware for years following the Company guidelines for care and use and been very satisfied. I can recommend it without hesitation. Service and packaging by Cooking.com is the best - prompt, well done and very reliable.

Flawed design, but good value

by Sam, NY
April 12, 2008

The skillets were on sale -- that's important. At full price, I wouldn't recommend these skillets -- there are better values. At the sale price they were a buy.

The main defect of these skillets is their design. Skillets are measured at the top, but of course the food cooks at the bottom. These skillets offer a smaller cooking surface than other brands with the same nominal measurements, which can be an annoyance for applications where you want the space -- for example in searing meats where you want everything separated for an even sear. Keep in mind that non-stick skillets don't last forever. A cast iron skillet or a Dutch oven may be handed down from generation to generation, but that non-stick surface will chip sooner or later, so price matters.

That said, the Calphalon skillets are nice. The weight is a good compromise between fast temperature adjustment (light is best) and heat retention (heavy is better). The balance is comfortable, and the manufacturer claims that the pans can take oven temoperstures up to 350 degrees (but no broiling) -- useful for things like chicken breasts that you would want to sear and finish in the oven. In contrast, the Farberwear Millenium, which, at full price, is a better value, has a 300 degree limit. While Calphalon's web site says these pans are dishwasher safe, the package says hand wash only -- which is good advice. The heat distribution is good, and the handle, while thin, is comfortable. Durability seems at least average, maybe better than average.

At full price it would pay to look at some other skillets -- but with the promotional discounts, these are a strong buy. Given the limited lifespan of all non-stick coatings, it may be worth putting them aside for future use.

I do allot of cooking and mainly use LeCreuset enameled cast iron so this stuff is incredibly light and easy to use. The handles stay nice and cool and the pans have a very quick response to changes in heat. If you’re doing things like light sautéing or making eggs these are great. The sizes are generous too. I think the larger pan is perfect for stir-fry. For the price these pans can't be beat. Some people may find them too slippery but I'm very happy with them.

Worth the money

by Jason, NY
May 27, 2008

Short and sweet - I'm no cook. I can barely make a bowl of cereal without mussing something up. But since purchasing these unique cookware items I've found that - without even trying - food is practically COOKING ITSELF. I often times come home after a long day of work, dreary from the repetition of daily life.... and there on my stovetop are amazing and fantastical creations!! Why, just the other day I returned home and found a delicious Cajun Blackened Fish right there in the skillet.

The point is, if you want to have food magically prepare itself for you, then you need these pans.

The skillets are great but I would have paid another $20.00 for good lids! Also, the handles are too long-they get in the way of other pots and pans while you're cooking.

A good Product and Value

by Timothy, MA
November 23, 2008

I work as a Chef and was looking for a good, solid reasonally priced large skillet for home use. This more than meets my expectations. I have a small one I have been using for about 18 months and can still fry an egg with barely a touch of cooking spray...not a single sdratch!

Price was right.

by Nancy, IL
August 28, 2010

I paid $49.99 for these two great pans. But the shipping expense was a little excessive. I found the same pans at Bed Bath & Beyond for the same price, but it only cost about a dollar in gas. While I was there I bought the lid for the 12 inch pan. Paid 19.95 for it.

The price seemed great so I ordered the 2 pc set. The skillets that arrived were too light weight to be for a serious cook.

The Ultimate Test

by Barbara, IN
June 16, 2009

Recently I purchased the 2-pc. Nonstick Skillet Set by Calphalon and I loved them so much that I purchased a set for each one of my daughters. They too, love them. Because of their handle design, they can go from browning on the stove top burner right into the oven for additional cooking. When the pans are used on the stove top, the handle stays cool and I didn't even have to a hot pad. That in itself sold me. Also, I loved it when I did a large egg omlet and when I was ready to take it out of the the skillet, it left the skillet like a dream! Clean up is a breeze. They are the best skillets I've ever owned and would highly recommend them to anyone.
