I think a steak knife should slide through the steak not tear through. Part of the pleasue of a good steak is the knife sliding through the steak. The juices puddling on the plate. We use all our senses. The slight tearing kind of disappoints me. I knew it was serated but I thought (hoped) that it was the scalloped serations. I was wrong. We'll use them in the RV not worth returning. But I won't use on expensive 'weekend' steaks.

These are great looking knives for a great price. The handles are brushed metal along the top but are a black rubber surface on most of the handle for a nice firm grip. I have big hands so I like a beefy handle but they aren't so big that average to small hands would have trouble.
The blade is micro-serrated so they can't be sharpened like high end kitchen knives but they are sharp and work great right out of the box.
The packaging recommends hand washing and I would too because i would worry about how to deal with those serrations if they get dulled. But if you are already used to giving knives that special treatment it shouldn't be an issue.
