The Jaccard meat tenderizer is the best tool for tenderizing steaks, chicken, pork and seafood. Much better than a mallet, this meat tenderizer (with its 45 razor-sharp blades) slices through the connective tissues found in meat which can sometimes cause it to be tough. Another advantage to tenderizing like this is that it allows marinades and rubs to penetrate more deeply into the meat, flavoring it all the way through. It will also reduce cooking and grilling time - up to 40%. The new design of the Jaccard meat tenderizer allows you to remove the blade cartridge for easier cleaning.

Customer Reviews

not worth the price.

this product received great reviews, but it's a lot more work than i thought. it's suppose to make tenderizing meats easier, but my arms hurt after awhile. easier to clean if you have a dishwasher, and i wasn't too happy with the design and condition of the product when i received it. the blades looked a little crooked for something brand new, and they were dusty. i had to wash several times before they were shiny. it would be better to have a safety lock "just in case"--for the price, it should have one.

best tenderizer I've ever had

by Roelene, NY

Works wonderfully. I did have to re-read the directions for taking it apart the first two times I used the tenderizer. You must be careful not to go all the way through the meat..... those sharp pointed blades can bend slightly, causing the tips to catch on dish towel.

Make certain to only go half way through the thickness on each side; and then add your seasonings... let the steak sit or marinate for a short time.

Good but be careful

by John, IL

The first time I used this product it "over tenderized" the steak and the meat ended up more "mushy" than tender. If used in moderation this tenderizer helps get marinade displaced throughout the meat better and does help make a relatively chewy piece of meat less so.

Meat Tenderizer with Removable Cartridge

by patricia , AK
February 27, 2008

I recently purchased a Meat Tenderizer with the removable cartridge from the Food Network Store. It has a 45 blade removable cartridge that is easily removed for cleaning. To tell you the truth, I wish I had bought it a long time ago. I just love it! It works like a charm, and no more poking a piece of meat with a fork. The Meat Tenderizer takes less than a minute to do the job that used to take quite a bit longer, in addition to doing a more thorough job of tenderizing. The Food Network Store experience was a pleasure and I received the tenderizer very soon after I purchased it. I would definately give the Food Network Store a two thumbs up, and five stars to boot!

London Broil

by Patrick, MD
June 4, 2008

I seasoned a London Broil wth salt, pepper. smoked paprika and garlic powder then used the Jaccard meat tenderizer on both sides of the London Broil.
I waited about 15 minutes, wrapped the meat in aluminum foil and baked it in the oven. It was tender and well seasoned. .

Good for more than just steaks

I enjoyed using this product for steaks and porkchops, but I was also able to use it on a potroast. I did have to turn the meat to get all the benifits, but it turned out very tender and help the marinade move all the way through the roast.

Perfect for tenderizing large pieces of meat before marinating -- the marinade gets deep inside and the flavor is great. -- and for those with a little arthritis, it's surprisingly easy on the hands. (much less joint and bone "shock" than usiong a pounder-type tenderizer) It's also a viscious looking little machine, making the protective cover well worth keeping iup with.

The seeling point on this version of the multi-blade tenderizer was the ability to takeit apart for cleaning.

I bought this gadget on a whim after reading an excellent review here on cooking.com. I'm so glad I did. It's a marvelous tool, works so easily and makes meats very tender. Marinades and rubs disperse more effectively throughout the meat. I'm planning to buy this tenderizer for two of my sons who like to cook. Oh, and another neat thing, it's so easy to clean. I just pop it onto the top shelf of my dishwasher. Since I have a sanitizing mode on the dishwasher I know the blades are super clean. I recommend this tenderizer to anyone who likes to cook.

The Jaccard worked very well to tenerize flank steak and allow a dry rub to penetrate. I especailly appreciate being able to disassemble the tool and clean it in the dishwasher.

This is the first time I have used this type of tenderizer, but so far its great. It really does help meats marinate better, cuts cooking times, and of course tenderizes. The blades being so delicate almost like tines seem like they will wear fast but they seem to be very rigid. The cleaning feature is great where you can take the blade cartridge out for cleaning all the contaminants off.

Upset about bent blades

by Randy, CA
June 30, 2007

Used it 3 or 4 times now, and just noticed that some of the blade tips are bent. I've been very careful to use it against wood, or 3 or 4 paper plates, so it seems to me the blades must be pretty fragile. Since they aren't individually removable, now I have to figure out a way to straighten and/or resharpen them. Expected a lot better quality than this.
