The Wusthof 5-in. Classic Santoku Knife delivers high-quality cutting and slicing in a compact form. The knife is an excellent size for regular use by those with smaller hands. It's also ideal for creating detailed and intricate cuts in meats and vegetables. Each knife comes with a wide blade that lets you scoop up sliced materials easily, and the hollow edge helps prevent sticking during use. A weighted bolster on each knife ensures excellent balance, and a curved heel keeps your hand in the right place as you cut. Each blade also has full-tang construction with three separate rivets holding the easy-grip handle in place for exceptional stability. The knives are hand forged in Germany using high-carbon steel that resists staining and lasts for years of daily use. Best Used For: Use the straight-edged chef's knife to quickly slice through fruits, vegetables and meats. Chop up ingredients for Asian-style dishes, and enjoy a taste of the East in your own home. • MOST HELPFUL REVIEWS

  • I bought two different Wusthof Santoku knives because I wanted two sizes and I wanted to compare quality and performance. I found both to be exceptional knives. Slick and sharp, first knife I'd ever used that actually sliced through green onions with total ease.

    I recommend this product.

  • The knife is a fun addition to my knife collection but I would not recommend it as a first purchase. Having the larger brother Wusthof Santoku as one of my two favorite knives, this was an addition for small chopping jobs and a supplement to my paring knife. The knife is light so not used for heavy chopping but its thin blade makes it nice for vegetable prep and smaller slicing jobs.
Netting it out, the knife is useful but an expensive addition to an already populated knife set. I would not suggest it be your first knife!

    I recommend this product.

I bought this knife for my vacation home. The price was great until I saw it at another store for the same price and with a cutting board included.

  • My knife for life

I purchased a block and set of knives about 6 months ago. It didn't come with the Santoku knife so ordered it from Cooking.com. I love it, perfect for my small hands. Very sharp, perfect for slicing vegetables very thin. If you are looking for the best knives, get the Wusthof Classic, and never buy another knife again.

    I recommend this product.

  • Wustof Classic Santoku 5-in

I have been wanting the 5-in Santoku knife for a while. I have the larger 7 in Santoku and it is my favorite. I got the Wustof because I have the classic set. This knife is great. Nice size, easy to use and handle. It is still pricey for a knife, and if I hadn't gotten it as a present then I would have had to hold off.

    I recommend this product.

  • Fantastic knife

The hollow-ground edge makes slicing so easy because the slices fall away from the blade instead of sticking to it. And you cannot beat the razor-sharp edge of a Wusthof knife. This is my wife's favorite knife.

    I recommend this product.

  • Good all purpose knife

I added the 5 in. Santoku knife to my other chef's prep knives and have been pleased with it's performance. It's great for quickly slicing/chopping. The knife is light weight so I still prefer my traditional 10 in. chef's knife for cutting meat. I recommend sharpening with a steel on a regular basis.

    I recommend this product.

  • I bought this knife as a gift for someone who preferred its shorter length to my Santoku’s 7” blade. It is the same excellent quality which I expect (and get) from Wusthof.

It is an amazingly sharp knife which is lighter weight and beautifully balanced. In recent years, this knife has become a favorite of many chefs … for good reason. It is incredibly versatile in its uses: simple slicing and dicing; cutting through meat; cutting up whole chickens; even slicing bread.

It is a workhorse for the kitchen and I recommend it highly to anyone looking for one knife which can do almost anything you need.

    I recommend this product.

  • This knife is the best! I love the size, and it's easy to hold for us with smaller hands. I am disappointed that I didn't get the sale price in effect-I paid $10.00 more than the current price, but still it's a great asset to my kitchen

    I recommend this product.

  • Do not underestimate this knife. It is SHARP!!! The first time I used it I sliced off the tip of my finger. It wasn't pretty, but I lived... I use this knife every day and it's just the right size for me. I owned the larger version of this knife first and love it too, but since I got this one I use the larger one a lot less.
