Saute Pan, 5 Qt, Hard Anodized

I waited a long time for this product to go on sale, so I could add it to my Calphalon collection. And I was happy that it arrived several days earlier than expected.
Unfortunately, the pan's performance has not lived up to my expectations based on previous Calphalon products. Onions, ginger and garlic are sticking to the bottom of the pan, even after trying at a lower heat setting.
Also, I dislike the small handle. I'm a fairly good-sized fellow (6 ft) and the thin, narrow handle is difficult to work with. I never feel like I have good control of the pan.

a good product - well made although the handle is a little thin which makes it hard on the fingers to hold this heavy pan.

Great Saute Pan

I previously purchased the Hard Anodized Commercial Everyday Pan and have used it, as its name appropriately states, almost every day. Since it is not non-stick, it is great for searing and browning. However, it was not large enough for me to use when we are having guests. This 5 qt pan is a great size, cooks and browns evenly, and is just what I was looking for.

Even after using the heat test I still find food sticking. I am having to use much more oil that I had anticipated. I did not want a non stick because I wanted to be able to deglaze the pan for sauces. Very disapointed. I do love the size because I do not like to crowd the pan when sauteing.

Very disappointed

Quality significantly deteriorated from 2 Calphalon anodized interior pans I bought a few years ago. Handles of pans and lids thin, rough, and uncomfortable to hold. Nothing in on-line description informed me of this reduced quality, so I felt service was unsatisfactory in making me pay for product return. I felt cheated.

Great Pan - Perfect size

This pan is the perfect size for a family meal. A lot of saute'pans are too small for a decent sized meal - this one is great!

I really love this pan. It seers meat and they don't stick. There's no worry about flaking non stick stuff coming off it. The food looks beautiful and the pan is so easy to clean. I love it.

Warping

Every time I heat the pan up, it warps and does not sit flush against the burner. Not just a little bit but quite a lot. I would have expected this maybe from a cheap pan but this one was expensive.

Everything Sticks

I follow the instructions on how to cook on hard anodized cookware and I just do not seem to be able to get I right. This is my first hard anodized pan. I know people who have them and say they are the best pans and never stick. Everything I cook sticks and it is very hard to clean. I will keep trying! Most people seem to have figured it out so hopefully I can!

Weight vs. Performance

This pan is a little heavy for me, but it has two handles, so it works fine. It was important to me to have the product made in the USA. I have used it for different types of meals and am impressed. The pan heats evenly, food doesn't stick and the clean up was a breeze.

I am a amateur cook but was given a Calphalon 10" pan years ago. The pan slowly grew into my favorite stove top cooking instrument. I recently purchased the 12" 5 qt saute pan. Great product!! Only downside is the requirement to hand wash the pan but this is well worth the price of admission considering how well the product performs in all other areas.
