There's a reason Cook's Illustrated has named this RSVP International 5-qt. Endurance Colander as the top colander on the market for several years running. This innovative design features thousands of precise perforations that allow for the fast draining of your food without the usual mess of seeing grains of rice or a few spaghetti strands making their way through the holes in a traditional colander and into your sink. It also drains more efficiently than regular colanders, thanks to its built-on one-inch base that lifts it up from the surface of your sink so that liquid can drain away easily. This colander is built to last for years and years, thanks to its 18/8 stainless steel construction using premium materials that can handle heavy usage in a busy kitchen. RSVP has made the colander easy to handle by equipping it with two sturdy stainless steel handles that are riveted onto each side to make carrying it from one location to the next an easy proposition. Its large 5-quart size makes this stainless steel colander ideal for washing vegetables and salad greens or for straining large pots of pasta or other cooked foods. The colander is dishwasher safe for fast cleanup.

Features:

  • Made from durable 18/8 stainless steel to stand up to years of active use in your busy kitchen
  • Fast-draining colander design features thousands of tiny precision perforations
  • Holds 5 quarts so that you can drain large batches of vegetables and fruits at one time
  • Dishwasher-safe colander is easy to clean
  • Cleaning & Care: Dishwasher Safe
  • Diameter: 11-in.
  • Height: 5-in.
  • Length: 13.25-in. with handles
  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Origin: China
  • Size/Capacity: 5-qt.
  • MOST HELPFUL REVIEWS:

  • Very good kitchen basic

Sturdy colander with a nice base. The all-over perforations are a really nice feature which help drain food, especially pasta, completely. I'm very pleased so far.

    I recommend this product.

  • Cool colanders

I love this 5 quart colander. Perfect for rice, orzo, and other small things that need to be strained. The size of the holes makes it a little hard to clean, but it's well worth the price. I would love it if they would offer this item in larger sizes, or even a square size would be nice. The only problem is that it's a little small for my sink and most of my cooking needs.

    I recommend this product.

  • Precision Pierced Colander 5-Qt

The colander is very nice; plenty of small-sized holes and drained items do not sit in water thanks to the very stable base. That said, the colander was expensive and therefore, I did not rate this product as a "value" purchase.

    I recommend this product.

  • Great quality and functional

Awesome- much better than the mesh strainer I had as food particles easily rinse off. Only con so far is the handles seems small (and I have petite hands). But great quality stainless steel that should last for decades.

    I recommend this product.

  • The perforated metal is better because the liquid drains completely.

  • what I was looking for

we use a colander all the time and when our old strainer/colander wore out and needed to be replaced I wanted to purchase one that was easier to clean and still serve the purpose that I needed one for. This colander was excellent for rinsing rice and pasta. The holes are small enough that the rice or pasta didn't fall through the wholes yet large enough for easy rinsing and washing.

    I recommend this product.

  • Light Weight And Perfect Size

This colander/strainer has been exactly what I wanted. The 5-qt. size is perfect for big and small dishes. It's light weight making it easy to wash and handle. There was a small dent in the metal when it was shipped, but it should be easy to pound back into place since the metal is thinner. The only negative comment I have is that it catches water pretty easily so the water doesn't always drip through; but I guess this could be a similar problem with all colanders.

    I recommend this product.

  • What I have been looking for.

My previous metal colander was embarassing (dented with wobbling legs). This is beautiful. The small holes prevent loss of even the smallest pasta, but allows drainage. The base gives wonderful support. I don't have to worry about it falling over.

    I recommend this product.

  • Great for initial straining of stock

I used mine last weekend when I made stock. Instead of trying to pick out the carrots, bones, etc., I just ladled it all through the colander into a larger bowl. It did a great job of containing all the stock "debris." I still needed to strain the stock to get rid of the excess fat but this was a great start.

    I recommend this product.

  • Better choice for familes

Bought this because it was highly rated by Cook's Illustrated and it really is a good product. Compared to my old aluminum colander, the numerous holes made quick work of draining pasta. I like that it's stainless steel. The size of this is better for families than the 3 quart model.

    I recommend this product.

  • Best Colander I found

I looked at dozens of colanders both in store and online. This is the best by far. It drains more thoroughly than any other colander I've used and is very sturdy. Definitely a quality product and well worth the price.

This is a great colander! It's big and I love that it's drainage holes are not covered by it's base! No voids to hold water! I plan on purchasing the smaller one for a matched set. I already got rid of all my oddball ones that don't drain as well!

    I recommend this product.
