Useful Addition to the Kitchen
This pan is very large and the footprint on the stovetop allows for quick cooking because the food is spread out over a big space and there is even heating. Good results come from first preheating the empty pan at the temperature you wish to cook the food; the food comes out beautifully well cooked. Clean-up is just icing on the cake.

I give my saute pans a hard workout and usually have to replace them every couple of years when the non-stick surface wears out and they become just too hard to cook in and keep clean. My last pan was a Calphalon as well, and it was great, served me well. The one I just bought was listed as a Calphalon, same size and price as before, so I assumed it would be a duplicate. It is not. The metal is thinner, which does affect cooking and there are hot spots. It also has a less comfortable handle, too skinny and not fully covered with the rubber-like material that does not conduct heat. The pan lid handle is also the skinny style, but that part is okay. The too-skinny pan handle makes the whole thing harder to lift than the prior heftier style. The balance seems off. However, there is a short handle on the opposite side for lifting, which is very handy. I am disappointed with the lesser quality (like the previous pan on a severe diet), but I will use this one until I use it up, just like all its predecessors. I like the high, vertical sides and the non-stick surface is very good. I expect it to last a year or two as before,so I appreciate the reasonable price. The glass lid is essential, fits snuggly, and I would not buy a pan without that feature. I just wish the pan itself was a higher gauge metal and the handle had a more ergonomic grip instead of the "stick" that it has.
