From caramelizing onions to preparing the perfect pasta sauce, the Calphalon 5-qt. Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Sauté Pan lets you increase your cooking skills and create delicious dishes you'll be eager to share. Constructed of stainless steel with an aluminum core, this wide-bottomed pan delivers the even heating necessary to prepare sautéed chicken breasts in a lemon-caper sauce or fish in a tomato reduction. You can also sear, braise and brown meat on the wide, flat cooking surface, making this a versatile multiuse pan. The durable stainless steel interior surface holds up well to metal spatulas and other utensils, while the lifted sides keep your cooktop safe from accidental splashes and splatters while still allowing easy access when you need to flip or stir foods. This pan comes with a domed tempered-glass lid that lets you keep an eye on food as it cooks while retaining moisture and heat, so your meal doesn't end up dried out from excess exposure to open air. In addition to use on your induction, gas or electric stovetop, this pan can be used in the oven as well. Even the lid is oven safe to 450 degrees F, so you can incorporate recipes that utilize both stove and oven cooking into your regular meal rotation. A triple-riveted long handle lets you turn or shift the pan to get good access to any item inside, and a separate helper handle makes it easy to lift the pan with two hands and transfer it between cooking surfaces. Both the pan and lid are dishwasher safe, and this cookware comes with a lifetime warranty.

Features:

  • Triple-ply construction with stainless steel surfaces and aluminum core
  • Large 5-quart capacity
  • Lifted sides for spatter protection
  • Tempered-glass lid included
  • Oven safe and broiler safe
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Riveted handles
  • Induction capable
  • Capacity: 5-qt.
  • Cleaning & Care: Dishwasher Safe
  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Origin: China
  • Special Features: Vessels are oven- and broiler-safe. Lids are oven-safe to 400°F/200°C.

  • The stainless steel 5 quart sauce pan is top quality. While there are other top name brands out there in stainless steel their quality has gone down considerably over the years. The brand my mother used when I was still at home has not met with my expectations, sadly. Calphalon stainless products are outstanding. I would recommend them to everyone. My son, chef that he is, uses nothing but Calphalon stainless steel pots and pans.

    I recommend this product.

  • Letting go of Mom's calphalon 5 qt sauté pan

Was afraid to try anything other than anodized aluminum but sadly, after almost 30 years, and 2 moves, my Mom's 5 qt sauté pan got warped, it was time. Very pleased with the new pan - dishwasher safe and all the great features of the old pan.

    I recommend this product.

  • Cooks great

I've used this pan three times since receiving it two week ago. Cooks great with even heat across the bottom. Used for Spanish rice, pan broiling steaks and making gravy. Easy clean up.

  • Initial usage and reaction is favorable. Time will tell how it holds up with use. So far, it works well and suits my needs. One possible improvement would be a wider/easier to grip handle as it is a fairly large pan and when I want to pour from it, it wants to spin in my hand.

    I recommend this product.

  • Exceeded my expectations

I love to cook but I'm a novice. However after recently subscribing to a bit more of a technical cooking periodical than I'm used to, I decided to treat myself to both a 3 and 5 qt saute pan. Both were specially priced and I was so surprised and pleased when I opened the boxes and inspected the pans. This pan was the larger yet lower priced item, but in side by side inspection and in side by side cooking comparisons the pans performed identically.

    I recommend this product.

  • good pan, hard to handle

The pan is great to cook with. Lid fits tightly, even heating. My one complaint is the narrow handle. The pan is heavy. When you hold the handle with one hand and dispense food into another dish, the hard to grip handle allows the pan to roll out of position. I came very close to dumping all the food out on the counter: very awkward.

  • I guess you get what you pay for?

We bought a frypan and this sauté pan to replace aging non-stick cookware. As a non-stick replacement we are thrilled BUT the pan is very unstable. We have a ceramic cook top and when you set the cold pan on the top it rocks and no little bit! The pan flattens out once it heats up and we put oil in it but feel quite dissatisfied that the pan changes shape between hot and cold. We have not abused and have followed directions for use and maintenance to the letter. Thinking twice about buying another large pan. The 8" fry pan is great. We guess that 12" is too large to be stable for the design.

  • We had purchased our first Calphalon stainless while on vacation 2 years ago. Cooking with stainless took a bit of getting used to since the trick to stainless is heating the pan then the appropriate oil to prevent sticking. Also NEVER using HIGH heat is mandatory! Once we replaced our old element stove with a ceramic cooktop, we decided to expand our Calphalon collection. The perfectly flat bottom works very well on the ceramic cooktop. We will never go back to coated pans again.

    I recommend this product.

  • best value for money

I have seen the price of All-Clad and realized that even if I could afford it, I would not do so. Once I found out about Calphalon TriPly Stainless Steel pan....the commercial quality sold me. I go to the Waterloo Premium Outlet all the time and always check out all the kitchen stores they have out there and always love going into the Chef's Outlet Store there. I was speaking to one of the sales people their at one time and that is when I found out about this particular line. I have a few more products I want to buy to complete my collection...I will always love these pots and pans....great stuff for the money.

    I recommend this product.

  • induction cooking

New pan did not work as well as cast iron on my induction cooktop. Did not spread the heat as evenly as my cast iron. I think that the extra mass of the cast iron allows it to heat more evenly.

  • use of stainless again

I love getting back into a quality pan for cooking again. I have worked in resturants in the past, but have not invested in a nice cooking set til now. The 5qt. saute pan was the first to try in the set. The heating for the pan is perfect and the food comes out awesome. Yes, if you are a beginner then you may have some sticking issues or some discomfort with using stainless, but with the even heating of this set it sure makes it easy. The cost is more then fair for the quality of the product. We are so happy that I went out this weekend to the outlet store and purchased the 11 piece set of the tri-ply to go along with the two pieces we have.

    I recommend this product.
