More than just a cookbook

I was very pleasantly suprised to find some core cooking basics in this wonderful book. The tips, weights/measures, hints, etc. are excellent for new cooks and those who have been around for a long time. I would recommend this book as one every household should have.

It was just what I wanted. It had a lot of info on the techniques that I wanted that could be translated onto a lot of other things, not just the recipes in the book.

Nice addition

This cookbook is a nice addition to one's collection of cookbooks but you have to be a fan of Julia Child's to appreciate it. Be aware there are no pictures in the entire book......lots of writing. It is a bit pricey. Also, know that the picture of Meryl Streep that played Julia in the movie is only a removable paper wrapper not a real part of the front of the book.

I haven't yet tried any of the recipes, but I read every last page. I saw the movie, "Julie and Julia" and I wanted this book ever since. I was alittle weary, because after all, most cookbooks you buy, are almost always just big recipe cards. This book actually shows you, in words perhaps, but shows you how to make the food, instead of just giving the instructions. Of course I might have to wait until this heatwave leaves the east coast in order to cook! It was 98 degrees in the shade yesterday!

wonderful and informational

I have not used recipes in this book yet, but I can't wait. It also has a great deal of good information about techniques, kitchen equipment, terms, etc. Just a great cookbook for a beginner or more advanced cook.

Must have cook book!

This book is extremely informative and precise with out being confusing. It is very straight forward and easy to read. Although I have not tried to prepare any of the recipes, it is so well written that I am positive I could succeed. A must have cook book for any at all interested in cooking.
