It lived up to its billing as the best press according to "Cook's Illustrated." It works very well for fresh ginger as well. A bit of the pricey side and not as easy as some to clean, but all in all, worth it.

I was hesitant to spend that much money on a garlic press, but it's by far the best one I've ever used. To make cleaning easy, do it right away or stick it in water right after you're done using it.

This is the best garlic press ever!

I have gone through several garlic presses, with handles breaking, the press mechanisms breaking, or the "cleaning" features falling off. Ihave not been happy since the one I got 13 years ago that was overused to death that just fell apart. I think it was an Oxo brand one, but I could not find a replacement. I tried 4 presses in the past 2 years and none did a very good job of pressing garlic.
With this Kuhn Rikon brand garlic press, there is no need to peel the cloves, and it is effortless to squeeze! For those of you that need to use two hands to get your current presses, switch to the best! It might cost more than your normal press, but this one works like you wouldn't believe, and I don't evision having to replace it for many many many years! It is top quality and is an amazing kitchen tool!!!

Best Garlic Press

by Karine, MI
March 31, 2011

I purchased this garlic press after Cooks Illustrated rated it the best. Its ergonomic design makes pressing even the largest, toughest clove of garlic a breeze. The perforated metal plate through which the garlic is pressed is hard to clean. It would have been nice to have a mechanism to "reverse press" against this plate to allow the fibrous garlic residue to be easily removed.
