  • Mango Splitter

This is a great product once I had practice. Slicing the end off at the stem of the mango is a very important first step and is not on the directions. Without a flat bottom, I had a very hard time.and would have rated the product poorly. I also find it works best with firm fruit that has been refrigerated.

    I recommend this product.

  • Wonderful Device

I heard Bobby Flay say that he would not be without his mango splitter and I fully agree. I makes quick work of a slippery project. I slice a small amount off the bottom to give me a base and split them with the skin intact. I plan to buy a second one for my vacation home.

    I recommend this product.

  • Very Useful

The best way to use the Mango Splitter is to cut off the bottom part of the mango with a knife so it will stand up straight- then use the Mango Splitter. If you don't cut off the bottom the mango has a tendency to roll over when you are trying to use the Mango Splitter.

    I recommend this product.

  • Very pleased with the Mango Splitter by OXO. It negates the mess of using a knife to separate the skin from the huge seed of the mango. I've found that there is a need to cut off the very top of the mango first, in order to correctly position the splitter so it will separate the seed from the meat correctly. Excellent product........

    I recommend this product.

  • Unless the mango is underripe, this product doesn't work. I used it on a ripe. juice mango, and it just mushed it rather than cutting through it. Made a real mess! It did get the seed separated, but I could have done it just as well (or better) with a sharp knife.

  • Awesome Tool!

The blade is sharp, and the tool is easy to use. The mango has to be firm, and I find that a cold mango is easier to cut. It actually pits the mango! I liked it so much that I bought a couple more of them to give as gifts! OXO is probably the best kitchen tool/gadget company out there. Real quality!

    I recommend this product.

  • Great Product at a not so great price

This product is quick & easy to use, saving both the time & fuss of otherwise cutting a mango. However, we've recently seen these in our local grocery store & could have done better on the price.

  • Finally an easy way to cut mango!

I only started eating mango a couple of years ago, and have struggled with the best way to cut them without wasting too much fruit, or making too big of a mess. I love OXO's apple corer/slicer so when I saw this I thought I'd give it a shot! It performed much better than expected! You still have to cut a bit more fruit from the pit if you don't want to waste it, but what a big difference! Buy one if you eat a lot of mangos, it's worth it!

    I recommend this product.

This item was bought more as a joke than as a needed gadget! But -- I was, and am, very surprised at the functionality and ease of use! I find myself using it for every mango, and we eat many mangos!

  • love mangoes? you'll love the Oxo Splitter

Mangoes are my passion. It's difficult to say which variety tastes best. The Oxo Mango Splitter makes the decision unnecessry. It cuts through all the varieties easily, leaving little or no waste around the seed -- a challenge when using just a knife. Best to cut them when they are still firm. If soft, the blades a not quite sharp enough and the cuts have to be started with a knife - then it works like it's supposed to. Thanks Oxo for a great tool.

    I recommend this product.

  • This product works really well as long as the mango is still firm. If the mango is over ripe the blade sticks half way through. Still a very nifty product for a mango lover like myself! No more sticky messes trying to manhandle the mango!

  • This will cut out the pit!! The mango must sit evenly on the counter. I've found if you cut the bottom off so the mango sits flat, it works better. The only thing I have found is that once cut, a small amount of the outside layer of the pit remains on the mango slices. It is probably me not getting it placed correctly. I have small hands, and this is easy for me to use.

    I recommend this product.

this is way too large to be used comfortably - it needs a sleeker design and perhaps be collaspible to be useful

  • Peel First

The splitter works most of the time ... there are odd circumstances where the pit it too big or odd shaped and it does not. I have found through trial and error that it is much easier to peel the mango first, especially if it is a little on the green side. Also, sometimes it is best to slice off the bottom to provide a more level surface for the splitter to work effectively. All in all a pretty darn good product.

    I recommend this product.

I think next time I will peel the fruit first.
