Great Kit

This kit was really great and affordable. I wish it included the utensils so it could be a complete starter's kit.

Had a big pot, so I was looking for something to put in it to try canning. OMG! this product is the best.

CANNING 101

i PURCHASED THIS "STARTER kIT" TO RELEARN, AND ESP FOR THE GREEN BASKET, THAT I thought was useful and would cost me probably also about $ 11.00. This is a BALL product. What I found out was that Ball?keri (spelling) tops and rings can not be used with any other Mason jars. This is ok, if you know this. So when buying Mason jars, check what company makes them and buy the rings ect with it The package came also with info about Pint sizes and the more ornamental glass jars. Nice for gifts. I am very happy with my purchase, I bought also a 4 Gal stock pot from Walmart that is also induction ready! My goal is to actually only can water for emergency uses, where first I boil the water, then can it. Should work. KW

Handle

This is a great value. If I could change the design slightly, I would alter it so the handle is more flexible. Right now, I need to use a HUGE lobster baek pot from my grandmother's basement so that I have enough height to properly seal and process my canning projects. This is due to the handle not being flexible enough to fit in a large soup pot (7inches tall and 9inches wide, and the lid adds another 2 inches of height- still not enough).

Canning jar holder

For small amounts of canning this device is pretty handy. I can use a smaller pan I have without pulling out the bigger one for large quantities. 1) What a great invention.

Price

Actually saw a very similar kit at WalMart, which came with the magnetic lid lifter, for a cheaper price.

I ordered 2 of these kits and they came in a flimsy box that was torn in the handling of the mail.

Convenient and economical

I love this product. It is perfect for making small batchesof your favorite canned recipes. I have been canning for years and so have my friends. We use this when we Don't feel like hauling out the large canner. It's also perfect for beginners who are just learning to can. I bought 3 of these kits for Wedding and Bridal shower gifts !

Canning Discovery Kit

I had bought one of these when they first came out and loved it for small jobs, I have a large canner and a pressure canner also and a freshsaver.. I gavemy 1st one away to my sister in law( a beginning canner) and couldn't get along without one. So I bought another and have already used it, A friend gave me a gallon of BBQ sauce and I recanned it into pints, which is more usable & storable for my family.

Basket size

I didn't read anywhere in the description that the basket held only 3 jars. I was looking for something larger. Would have sent the package back, but with the cost of shipping I just kept it. I gave it 3 stars because there is nothing wrong with the quality of the product. I felt for the size of the basket and 3 canning jars, it is over-priced

Easy to use and just right for small batches

I never canned before so didn't want to invest in a full size canner. This worked great in my existing stock pot and it could handle 5 of the jelly jars at a time which was perfect for the small batches made with the automatic jam and jelly maker.i didn't bother with the handle on the basket and just used my jar lifters I purchased separately.

Great for the budding cook in your family. I love mine. Great price and fast shipping.

Have not had the opportunity to use this product yet. I purchased it because I wanted an alternative to the full size water bath canner when I only had a couple of pint or half pint jars to put up, so I am looking forward my first time.
