The origins of Mason Cash can be traced back to the heart of Derbyshire, England in around 1800. Mason Cash ceramics were made from ‘white and cane’ glazed earthenware, also known as ‘yellow ware’ due to the color of the local clay. The pottery was run by a series of Master Potters, of whom the most colorful was ‘Bossy Mason’. Tom Cash acquired the pottery in 1901, and renamed the company Mason Cash and Co.

Mason Cash mixing bowls were designed to remain static during manual mixing with a textured pattern around the exterior, which not only allows for a tight grip but also to give the bowl a distinguishable look. The bowl’s shape is designed for the cook to hold the bowl in one arm easily, while using the other arm for beating the mixture. It also features a wide, shallow shape ideal for kneading dough and allowing it to rise. It also features a white interior, intended so that the cook can easily see the color and consistency of the mixture. The mixing bowls are safe for use in the freezer and dishwasher safe.

The Mason Cash mixing bowl has met the test of time by combining both ergonomic and functional elements. Mason Cash products are functional, long-lasting and beautiful. There’s something about them that has transcended the generations, whether it’s the pattern, the durability or the usefulness. All of these things have made Mason Cash mixing bowls exist for the last 100 years. There’s a nostalgic feeling towards Mason Cash and each hand crafted piece is an heirloom that you can hand down to your children.

  • the search for the missing large ceramic bowl

I was looking for a large ceramic bowl for bread making, and I had a hard time finding one large enough. This was the largest bowl I could find on the internet, and my partner loved getting it this holiday season. It will serve our purpose of home-made baking, and if you make an even larger one, we'd be glad to buy it.

    I recommend this product.

  • Shipping concern

I ordered both the large and small Cane mixing bowls. When I received them, they had placed the smaller mixing bowl directly inside the larger mixing bowl without any barriers to keep the two from bumping, chips, or breaking while in transit. They had just sat the small Cane mixing bowl inside the large and sent them on their way. My larger bowl had a very tiny chip out of it. Just a thought, you might want to put some packing in between them.

    I recommend this product.

  • This bowl has a pleasant feel and look to it and it handles well in use. It is, however, subject to breakage. The first delivery arrived in many pieces. The second delivery was in tact..

  • Lovely ceramic bowl, a bit pricey

I received a 7 or 8 qt. Mason Cash mixing bowl as a wedding gift 30 years ago. It finally broke last year and I was shocked at how expensive it would be to replace it. I settled for the 6 qt. bowl because of the lower cost. It's light, it's lovely and I'm glad I got it, but it's a bit wider than my original bowl, almost 12" across, and thus shallower. I hope this one lasts as long as my first one did!

    I recommend this product.

  • Excellent product for bread baking process

This bowl is just the right size for holding bread dough during first yeast fermentation. It has a nice quality glaze and textured exterior to help keep the bowl from slipping out of hands.
