If you've ever made guacamole or a fresh salad topped with avocado, you know how tricky it can be to remove this tasty fruit from its peel. With the Avocado Slicer, it's a cinch. All you do is halve your fruit, remove the pit and slide the slicer just above the skin to scoop and slice at the same time--your ripe avocado is then ready to eat! Slicer is made of 18/8 stainless steel and the handle is easy-to-grip santoprene (rubberized) so it won't slip as you slice. Dishwasher safe.

I bought this item from cooking.com because I tried in vain to find one in a retail store here in Portland, OR and was unsuccessful. I couldn't find it anywhere.
It works as long as the avocado is ripe enough. If the avocado isn't fully ripe I had better luck using a knife.
best for medium to large avocados

It is a bit wide for small avocados, but otherwise a great tool.

Growing up in Florida where avocadoes are abundant. I like the slices primarily for apearance in salads and stand alone with lime and onion.
I like to have a good presentation of food - sliced avocado is beautiful.
