I received the Waring Food Slicer as a wished for Christmas gift and I'm very happy with the results of slicing roast beef and ham. I have yet to slice my homemade breads and also cheeses and vegetables -but I'm sure it will perform just as well as with the meats. Clean up is easy so I do recommend this machine to any home cook.

Waring 7.5 in. Food Slicer

by Mary, MN
August 4, 2007

I have found this product harder to use than I anticipated from other reviews I read on the website. The meat tends to stick to the blade making it hard to get a consistent cut.

This is a terrific food slicer and very easy to use. Slices meats and bulk cheese easily and uniformly. The only thing negative I would say is that it is somewhat tedious to clean. Most of the parts don't come off, so cleaning becomes a time consuming process. Other than that, I recommend this product heartily.

Cuts slow, and hard to clean

by mitchell, NY
August 10, 2008

The machine is light weight, and has a sharp blade. The thickness control is user friendly, and easy to use. The blade comes off for easy cleaning. You cannot get under the slide bar what controls the plate for the thickness. The blade turns slowly, so making slices of a pastrami, or turkey takes a while.

Ok, I will tell you what I think. These items are very expensive, but this one is a good unit for the money. You see I have a 6'4" tall 15 year old boy that can eat the southbound end out of northbound mule. He can inhale $10 of deli cut meats in one sitting. So I cut my costs by purchasing this unit and now buy the mule. Works great, nice slow cut, cleans up well, have cut, ham, roast, brisket and cheese. Thanks, Dad

Safty hand guard needs improving

by JoAnn, FL
February 14, 2007

The teeth on the hand guard are not long enough to hold what you are slicing in place. Therefore it moves & slides , making what I feel is a dangerous situation. Also that piece & the other plastic pieces are very flimsy. That especially should be a heavier material & have some way to keep it in place better. I can already picture it being drop, cracking & being of no use. Thus making the slicer either useless or dangerous. But I guess for the price I shouldn't have expected more.

Waring Pro 7.5 inch Slicer

Good product but I was expecting a more sturdy product from Waring. There were more plastic parts then I expected on this slicer.

Purchased this for my husband who loves working in the kitchen. He used this for the 1st time to slice up some venison to make jerky for his ski trip. He said it saved him about 1/2 hour and was able to have uniformly thin sliced meat which is important when using a dehydrator to dry the meat. He loves it and is recommeding it to the person who he gets the venison from. We plan to use it for lunchmeats and cheeses as well as breads.
He said it's the best Christmas present ever.

Better than the others

Three of my girlfriends have home slicers. I've been wanting one for a very long time but the ones they have are made mostly of plastic. They work okay but I needed one a little sturdier as I planned on using it often. Finally, I found the 7.5-in. Professional Food Slicer by Waring
it's sturdy yet safe. I thought of buying a commercial slicer, but they're way too large to keep in a home kitchen. The waring slicer fits perfectly on my counter, I never put it away. I use the slicer mostly for spoon (sirlion) roasts as we love philly cheese steaks and steak and cheese quesadillas. But it also works great on veggies, cheese, pepperoni, etc. My only complaint is that it's a bit difficult to clean. If it came apart more or could be put under water then it would be perfect!

I gave this to my brother as a Christmas gift and I don't think I have ever seen him so happy to receive anything!! His face lit up and he immediately opened the slicer up and sliced up a Taylors Ham for the family! It was easy to use, lightweight - yet sturdy. Also, it is a very attractive product.

Thanks!

Beef sliced great for party!

by Elsa, FL

I purchased this food slicer since we were having to large parties at our house to celebrae our daugher's marriage. My father cooked the top siroin outdoors on his own designed motorized spit w/ cover. After the meat cooled, he then sliced it very easily and perfect thinness. This was a big help to him!
