Wusthof spatula - Meat yes, Cookies No

At close to $35, I expected this spatula to be the be all and end all. It was recommended by "Cooks Illustrated" further heightening my expectations.

It's a good spatula, and performs best when using it to lift large things like pieces of fish or chicken or beef.

It doesn't work so well getting warm cookies off baking sheets. I couldn't figure out why until I compared it with my no-name spatula and realized the openings were too wide, and weren't getting all the cookie off the tray, leaving bits behind, and holes in the bottom of the cookies.

So, buy it if you're using it for meat or fish. It's sturdy. For delicate things like cookies, use another thin spatula with less opening room (can't think of a better way to describe this space) on the surface of the spatula.

The slot in the spatula reduce weight, but some food might get stuck in there-- wash it real good after use. The steel spatula makes it strong and flexible on metal pots and aluminium pans, but don't use it on TEFLON surface pots and pans. There are pros and cons on this item, but choose your needs.

Excellent Tool

Purchased this becasue I needed a better spatula and this was recommended by America's Test Kitchen and it performs up to their rating and my expectations. It's especially good on fish and eggs.

I think this is great.

I primarily bought it for cooking and handling fish, but I find it is great for any food that is fragile.

This spatula us awesome but overpriced. I woul buy one for tons of people if it was less expensive.
