The Wusthof 7-in. Classic Santoku Knife delivers exceptional quality, making it an essential component of any well-equipped kitchen. This Japanese knife is traditionally used for slicing fish and seafood for sushi and sashimi. Thanks to its precisely angled blade, it's capable of making paper-thin slices of virtually any ingredient. Use it for beef carpaccio, beef for a Philly cheesesteak, pepperoni for a pizza or belly pork for a Chinese delicacy. If you have smaller hands, you'll likely prefer this style of knife over a chef's knife or a cleaver. It's perfect for slicing and dicing veggies and potatoes. You can even use it to finely mince garlic, ginger and herbs. The blade features shallow indentations, known as a Granton edge. These indentations allow the food you're cutting to slide right off the blade without sticking. Each Wusthof knife has been hand-forged by skilled craftsmen, so you can count on professional-level quality. The company uses state-of-the-art computer technology to sharpen the blade. With their perfect angles, these blades stay sharp even with frequent use. This santoku knife features a full tang, meaning that the blade runs the entire length of the handle. Full-tang knives are renowned for their durability and precision. Because the handle is riveted to the blade, the knife responds well to each of your movements, allowing you to chop, slice and dice like the pros.
Shallow indentations keep foods from sticking to the knife
Precisely sharpened blade stays sharp for a long time, even if you use the knife frequently
Hand-forged by skilled craftsmen
Constructed from high-carbon stainless steel, so the blade is exceptionally hard and strong
I LOVE this knife. Use it almost every day. Am buying it for a couple of people for Christmas. It is my primary slicing, dicing, mincing tool. And I have an extensive set of Wusthof knives. I use most of them, but I use this one most frequently. Exceptional.
My son is a professional cook and chose this knife as a gift he wanted for Xmas. There were a few much more expensive knives he really liked but knows in his business theft is a possibility and was very happy to compromise with a lower priced but still very high quality knife. He really likes the balance and the feel of the traditional style handle
I ordered the knives for my adult son as I already use these same knives in my Bistro Kitchen and know them to be excellent. The price through Cooking.com was the best on the market, as I did a lot of comparison.
I ordered this knife mainly so I could try it. First, I like Wusthof knives better than any other German made knife. I was surprised at the light weight of the blade. This wasn't a plus for me because I would have liked a heavier blade for better balance. Nevertheless, this is a useful addition to the knives I use daily.
