Cook's Illustrated rated this press as a Best Value. As I have broken more garlic presses than I care to count, I am hoping that this one lives up to its recommendation. So far, so good. Also like the tool for cleaning out the holes... and the fact that it snaps into the handle so I don't lose it.

This is a great garlic press, sturdy construction and easy to clean. The large hopper makes it easy to press multiple cloves at one time.

good product if you're strong

This press definitely works and you don't have to peel the garlic first. But, it is very difficult to actually press. I have to hold it against the counter and push. So I don't recommend it if you have arthritis or you can't bench 75 pounds!

Not that great

by Linda, WA
February 23, 2008

Seems like pretty good quality, but just didn't like the way it came out. It says you can leave peel on, but this prevents the garlic from pressing out efficiently and effectively. Might be better to peel first then press. Quality could be a little better.

Needed a new garlic press and bought this one due to the America's Test Kitchen recommendation; it has met expectations (it actually works and doesn't feel like its going to fall apart if you squeeze too hard).

I have a list of all items recommended by Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen. When I see them, I buy them when I can. I like not having to mince my garlic anymore and this gadget does the trick. I do find I have to squeeze a bit harder to get the garlic all the way through the holes, but the press works great regardless.

Zyliss Garlic Press

by Laurie, TX
January 7, 2008

I orderded these as gifts because I won one myself and think it is a great product. My one beef is that these were previously made in Switzerland but are now made in China. Even more annoying is that Cooking.com still lists it as made in Switzerland. I was very annoyed when I received them and had it not been for the issue of time and need to have the gift when I needed it, I would have sent them back. I felt mislead.

It's a lot easier to clean this than a cutting board and knife. 10 times better than those stupid press and chops!

Easy to use and sturdy. I am lazy and don't like the tedious work of removing the skin from garlic. This press solves that problem.

BUY THIS ONE! Throw out the rest.

I have multiple garlic presses including the original Zyliss garlic press. I am blessed with a mother who grows elephant garlic just for us kids since we cook so much; I tend to take the lion's share I think. I have been buying garlic presses trying to find one that can handle those monster cloves and that wont strain my wrist and fingers to badly. I usually call my husband to press the garlic. Now with this new one I have been able to press my own cloves of garlic again! I also love that the cleaner is tucked away right in the press so it doesn't get lost like the one to my original zyliss press did. Can't think of any improvements.

Rated the best (last year).

America's Test Kitchen rated this the best the last time they looked at the Garlic press. The newly top rated press was out of stock (everywhere), so I bought this. I honestly cannot see how another press could be better. Quick, handles large pieces, COMPLETELY presses with none of the useless

Easy to use

by Kathy, VA
April 6, 2012

Great value and easy to use. I would however still suggest removing the outer layer of the garlic first before pressing it. I did find that it was too difficult for me to press the garlic with the outer peel still on it so I removed it and it did it quite easily then.

Best Garlic Press Ever!

This was a replacement--somehow I managed to lose my original one, and I refuse to use any other. I have used several different kinds (many were more expensive), but have never found one that works better!

The Zyliss Garlic press works great. It actually gives you the juices and also the garlic in fine pieces. All other presses I tried did only mash the garlic piece to produce some juice and the garlic piece remained in the press. With the Zyliss press nothing remains in the press.

This is the first and ONLY garlic press that actually worked for me. I had a drawer full of other brands and didn't get the same results as I did with this one. It minced both small and large cloves of garlic with ease.

At first glance, it appears this garlic press is the same as all the others until you put in the first clove of garlic. One press and you know you have something special in you hand. You don't have to peel the garlic which is a big timesaver, and after one press, the garlic is completly removed from the clove, leaving just the skin. Fit and finish are excellent.
