I bought this product to make Eggs Benedict for my wife on Mother's Day. It's a well made product and worked very well. Follow the directions in the cookbook.

Good, solid product, well made and attractive

by Phil, NH

This is a very solidly-constructed egg poacher.  The pan itself is of heavy stainless steel, with a solidly attached handle; the steel-rimmed glass lid fits well and has a grommeted steam vent.  The clean, functional design looks good on the stovetop, and the glass lid lets you monitor your eggs without lifting the lid.
The egg cups are on the small-and-deep side compared to some others I've seen, which is a bit of a drawback if you're cooking eggs to make eggs Benedict, but the non-stick coating works very well.  (A light wipe with a smear of butter is still recommended, though.  Eggs love to stick.)  The wire handles on the egg cups are very substantial, two or three times as thick as the thin wire frequently used on cheap pans.
The one slight negative is that the handles sit flat on the surface of the pan when in use, so you can't just take hold of one to lift an egg cup out, you have to use a knife or spatula to lift the end of the handle so that you can get a grip on it.

Even with that negative, I'd recommend this egg poacher over any other I've used in the US.

non-stick Egg Poacher needs a little oil

by Carol, CA
February 9, 2007

Yes, this is the best egg-poacher we've ever had, but it still needs a little oiling and a spatula to release the egg.

I bought this pan for my boyfriend and he loves it. The eggs don't stick at all in the cups and it was easy to clean. The pan itself is very high quality and can be used for other things other than poaching eggs and that is why I chose this model in the first place. He made a sauce in it and it came out great. I would totally recommend this poacher to everyone.

We find the eggs cook more evenly in the metal cups vs the plastic cups in other poachers.

Works great, high quality - extremely well pleased. Reading the reviews were helpful in choosing and using this product, especially the tips about putting a little olive oil in the cups to prevent sticking.

This is a very well constructed pot with easy to use features. It has a suprisingly thick base for distributing heat. It was not my first choice, but I am very pleased with the quality and features of this product by Demeyere which I had not heard of until I bought this egg poacher.

I am glad I read some comments regarding egg poachers because I didn't realize that some of them come with a plastic tray inside - which I don't think I would like. The pictures look like it's metal until you read the description - IF it says it's plastic. That's why I purchased this one - it said the insert was metal and the eggs come out of it really easily. Thanks for posting comments - it helps us consumers make a better choice.

my new egg poacher

by Mary, NY
March 4, 2009

I researched the purchase of a new egg poacher - non stick - 4 egg cups or less, see through lid - ease of removing hot cups. Demeyere was the reviewed and most praised on the various internet sites. I also contacted the Demeyer company re their products.

Cooking.com were helpful and user friendly - I wish they shipped to Canada. We had a bit of time trying to co-ordinate visits to the states and hotel delivery of this item. Cooking.com always tried their best. I was pleased with the service and the product.
