The name means "three benefits" in Japanese, and you'll find at least that many good uses for this sturdy knife called the Hollow Edge Santoku. Used for mincing, dicing and slicing, this all-purpose tool has hollow indentations in the blade that allow food to slide right off without sticking. Part of the Four Star series, the knife is made of high-carbon stainless steel and precision-honed, with a laser-controlled edge, a balanced super-bolster, and a tang that extends to the back of the polypropylene handle, which is permanently bonded for seamless accuracy.

I hope this is great as I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my daughter. I was surprised when it came - this little 7 inch knife was in a box that was HUGE! I have not opened it and I'm sure it's full of styrofoam peanuts, which cannot be recycled. BTW - I have a Calphalon santoku knife which is half the price; I love my knife!

The only complaint I have is that this knife could be balanced a little better. It cuts really nice and has a great fit to my hand. It is my new favorite kitchen tool!

Very sharp knife that cuts effortlessly. Food doesn't stick either which is a big plus. This has become my "go to" knife.

I've owned and loved using some Henckel paring knives and a Henckel large bread slicing knife for a long time. When I saw this knife available at such a discounted price, I just had to try it. I'm so glad I did - it's a FANTASTIC knife!!! It's super sharp and easy to handle - very well balanced. I'd recommend this knife to anyone who cares about using a well-made, high quality knife.

This is our second of this particular knife.
After the first one becoming our favorite in the entire house, my wife and I had to get another so we could both have one since we cook together most of the time.
