Backed by a 10 year warranty, Calphalon's Commercial Hard-Anodized Cookware is made to professional standards, offering the home chef unsurpassed cooking performance and lasting durability. Each piece in the Commercial Hard-Anodized line is made of a heavy-gauge aluminum that distributes heat evenly and eliminates hot spots as you cook. And because it's made entirely of metal, each pan can be used in the oven and under the broiler. Hard-anodizing seals the cooking surface, making it stick-resistant and non-reactive to food. Handles are designed to stay cool on the stovetop and are balanced with such precision that even full pans are easy to manage and carry.

August 11, 2009

I expected a heavier pan but have used it twice so far and I am happy with it.

Lightweight

by Deborah, DE
October 17, 2009

While this Casserole worked OK and was the size I was expecting, it was not as heavy as I thought it would be. I was expecting more of a dutch oven weight.

Nice size and shape, not commercial weight.

by Lynette, VA
April 12, 2010

Nice pot, but don't expect it to be like your old Commercial Calphalon. This is much lighter weight than my original commercial calphalon set. Looks just like my set, but much thinner. Not nearly as heavy duty. They just don't make 'em like they used to. Calphalon might be able to fool new customers, but side by side there is no comparison. I'm keeping it, because it is a great size and shape, and I think I'll get a lot of use out of it. Plus, the lighter weight does make it nice and easy for me to handle and clean. But, I'm a bit disappointed to see that even Calphalon has sold out.

I would buy it again. I have recommended it to a couple of friends after only useing it once. Baked a full meal in it and stored it in the frig for a couple of days and clean up was a snap.

Great pan

I wouldn't call this a casserole but more of an old fashioned Dutch oven. But do be careful if your mixture contains milk as it will stick, as in chicken and dumplings.

Versatile cookware at a good price point

by Gregory, NJ
January 12, 2011

Purchased this product as a Christmas gift. It seems to be well made but is basic in design. It is not beautiful to look at - I know who cares? I only mention it so you are not surprised should you order one.

Defective Handles

by Tamara, CA
June 22, 2011

The first Chef's Casserole Calphalon.com shipped to me had unsightly scratches and abrasions on the handles. I returned it for exchange. The second Chef's Casserole shipped to me looked fine, but during its first use (to blanch vegetables), the handles leaked water at the points where they were attached to the pot. A pot that leaks is quite simply useless. Calphalon customer service very kindly resolved the issue with me and I ordered other Calphalon products instead. Normally I find Calphalon products to be of high quality; I'm sure Calphalon will resolve manufacturing issues associated with their Commercial Hard Anodized Chef's Casserole. I have other pans in the Calphalon Commercial Hard Anodized line and they perform very well.

A GOOD FAMILY COOK WITH GOOD COOKWARE

by Joan, FL
December 13, 2011

I have a complete set of Calphalon unison cookware and we love it. This is my first time to have such great pots and pans. I'm 77 yrs old and didn't want my son and family to wait a lifetime to get the best, So on their 25th anniv. I got them a set, and they love them. I bought this Chef's 7Qt. Casserole for a Christmas gift. One really nice feature (among many) is being able to start on the stove top for searing and then finishing in the oven. My husband of 52 yrs. has even taken to cooking. Could it be he feels more confident with this cookware??? I'm still the main cook in the house though and I cook for 2 daily an for 10 once a week and for 14-16 when my son & family in Virginia come home for a week at a time, summer, Christmas, and shorter times for other occasions. Sometimes there are more with the extended family with my sons spouses parents. Everyone likes my cooking.

Use

by Rose Mary, IN
December 24, 2011

I love my Caphlon cook ware and didn't have a large dutch oven. This will fit the bill for soups, stews, etc. I haven't used it yet, but I know I will be pleased with this product as I have been with my other Caphlon cookware.

Not the same as original

by Brian, TX
March 13, 2012

The yes no questions were difficult to answer because I might choose a different answer with a more detailed explanation. The positives are the size, I like how big it is for a big stew. It browned just fine and the fond was perfect, deglazing worked as it should. The negatives are the guage of the metal is thinner than the original commercial line. It feels cheaper and the thinner guage does not simmer as evenly. It is made in China instead of the old line made in USA, which while not of importance for an impartial review does explain the quality difference. Even cleaning with Barkeeper's Friend the pot and lid stained after only one use. Overall I feel good enough about the price paid and the size I wanted to augment my cookware choices not to immediately return it, but it is a close call. The customer service aspect of the sale including phone contact and speed of delivery were top notch.
