We can hardly wait to tell you about the things you can do with the Calphalon 7-qt. Hard-Anodized Chef's Casserole. This versatile number will save you time and trouble while you're preparing all manner of meals. Start out on the stovetop to simmer or sauté your base or aromatics, and assemble all your ingredients without even transferring them to another dish. Just cover up the pan with the included lid, then move it right to the oven to bake to perfection. The heavy-gauge aluminum construction ensures that heat is distributed evenly and eliminates hot and cold spots in your finished dish. Plus, this pan is even safe under the broiler. Since it's hard-anodized, the surface is stickproof and the metal won't react with your food, so you don't need to worry about any metallic flavors infiltrating your favorite home-cooked meals. And because it comes to you from Calphalon, you know this casserole is designed to last a lifetime, but all the same, take precautions: avoid using metal utensils and sharp objects inside this pan to prevent the possibility of scratching its easy-to-clean nonstick surface.

Best Used For:

Of course this pan is best for casseroles of all kinds, but that's hardly all you can do. Prepare sauces on the stovetop, slow-cook meats in the oven, or use it to prepare your favorite soups and stews. This little number is the master of the one-pan meal.

  • Chef's Casserole by Calphalon

The Chef's Casserole that I purchased is much thinner than my other Calphalon; and, if you stand it side by side with my current cookware it's quite noticeable. In speaking with the Calphalon customer service direct I was informed that they have several different grades and qualities of products that they sell. So, evidently what I purchased was an inferior product that was made specifically as a sale item. I don't believe the price I paid was marked down at all...it was probably the standard price for what I bought.

  • this pot is to thin. it is not what Calphalon is all about

  • Nice to look at, but the first time I used it (to make applesauce) it discolored the interior and it will not come off with any product on the market - I tried them all! What a disappointment.

  • Calphalon Today

I read the reviews and description of this size pot. Thought it would prove helpful. I consider myself to be a creative cook, fairly regular about the spices and herbs I use. It arrived beautifully packaged. I had noted that a reviewer mentioned that the casserole is NOT heavy. That would be correct. All of my smaller Calphalon pots, some from 10+ years ago, are much heavier than this larger size. I have not used it thus far and would hope it has the same effectiveness in cooking ease. I have an indigent church friend who might drop by with some equally 'struggling' pals at any time. This one's for them.

    I recommend this product.

  • Thin and Light

This pan sticks and is not worth the money in my opinion. I thought it would be heavier and it is extremely light weight. Sorry, this one I have to say, "No-go".

  • Chef's Casserole, (7-qt.)

Really, really thin material. I mean like thin as a paper plate!. Also, I believe there must be two kinds of Calphalon. Some has a great non stick finish and some has a finish that stuff sticks to pretty badly. This one sticks. It's ok for some things, but way too thin to hold heat like you need from a cassarol this size. From the picture I thought it was of a much, much heavier material. I have used it to fry in, but due to the lack of mass, tempratures fluctuate wildly. It looses heat very quickly.

Calphalon is a quality product. This casserole pan goes from range to oven, and is not to heavy to handle. It was what I hoped it would be.

  • Chef's Casserole review

This pot was not as heavy as I had anticipated. I have a little concern that it will not last. Also, that when simmering for long periods, it might scorch the bottom of the pan as it does not seem to be of quality material. And, I thought the price was a little high considering the quality. It is too much trouble to pack it up and send it back, so I might give it to one of my friends who loves to cook.

I could not ask for better quality and performance. Nothing sticks to it, always a plus, and it heats evenly. The price was the BEST part.

  • Nice size and shape, not commercial weight.

Nice pot, but don't expect it to be like your old Commercial Calphalon. This is much lighter weight than my original commercial calphalon set. Looks just like my set, but much thinner. Not nearly as heavy duty. They just don't make 'em like they used to. Calphalon might be able to fool new customers, but side by side there is no comparison. I'm keeping it, because it is a great size and shape, and I think I'll get a lot of use out of it. Plus, the lighter weight does make it nice and easy for me to handle and clean. But, I'm a bit disappointed to see that even Calphalon has sold out.

  • I used this pot as soon as I got it to braise cornish game hens and it was great. The pan heated quickly and evenly, the hens got a great sear on the outside and then in the oven became juicy as they slow roasted. I have tried the same recipe before in a different (cheaper) pan and it didn't work near as well. GREAT VALUE!

    I recommend this product.

  • Affordability

I have wanted to purchase these pans for several years. Thanks to Food Network you have made this possible for me. Each time you have one of your wonderful sales it affords me the opportunity to purchase one or two pots/pans at one time. Eventually, I will have aquired an entire set that was affordable for me. Thanks for enabling me to purchase what I consider the best set of pots/pans ever made.

I was expecting the casserole to be heavier/thicker, more like a cast iron pot. I have not used it but feel it is not the heavy bottom pot usually indicated for braising but will try it this weekend.

  • size of casserole

I had an 8 quart stock pot before buying this 7 quart casserole pot. I was afraid with my size family ( there are 7 of us)that I would not be able to cook 2 pounds of pasta at one time without it coming out starchy. I was wrong. it does a wonderful job. with easy clean up too. that's a bonus. I have purchased 2 of them one for pasta and the other one for sauces. Love the handles. they don't get hot, you are still able to pick up the pots without potholders by the end of cooking time. something I was unable to do with my old set. I'm very happy with my purcahse and am now thinking I should have bought 3. I often have friends and family over.

    I recommend this product.
