For the home cook
I am an avid cook and like to make things from scratch. There is a slight learning curve to this. The most important thing is to heat up the tortilla in microwave for 12 to 15 secs., no longer...immediately drape it over the pre-heated taco form. If the tortillas are not "soft" and pliable enough to completely drape over the form, it will just flop off b/4 you get it into the oven...so that's what I learned in order to avoid frustration. The tacos can be cooked and used right away or stored for another time (which makes it easier to prep ahead of time). These taco shells don't crack into a million pieces like the store-bought boxed brand which are too brittle, these are much better...crispy on the outer edges but softer at the bottom folded edge. If you don't like cooking, you may not want to bother w/these, but if you do like cooking--and you know who you are--then it's worth a try.

Ok now that I bought this the commercial show that they have or soon will have flat bottom shells LOL OK it's still a handy item. I use mine upside down from shown. I like to put my meat into them as well before a quick trip to the oven. Then leave it in there to finish with the condiments and then yum yum yum a wonderful taco. I still think it's a great item and yes I would recommend.

You can bake tacos in the oven with no oil or use this Taco Shell baking rack to reheat and criisp boxed shells sold at your grocery. For the most yummy shells buy nice, fresh corn tortillas, heat a small skillet with 1/4 cup or so of good oil, canola or olive, warm the tortillas, remove from oil and drape soft tortillas over the backing rack which you have preheating in a 325-350 degree oven.
Bake in oven until they reach the crispness your family likes best, fill with your favorite taco meat mixture, lettuce, shredded cheese and salsa.
Does not stay on it.
The idea and the construction quality are good, however the surface is too sliperly and the taco shell does not stay on the rack during baking and end up in a odd shape. Yes, I made it soft to drap over, but does not stay on while cooking.

I have never been one to buy many things on-line, in fact, I usually am very skeptical about it. Everyone in my family enjoyed our "new" taco shells. The shells were less greasy and were light and crispy. I warmed up the tortilla in the microwave for 10 seconds and lightly brushed a very small amount on oil on them. We have a family of four with hearty appetites, so it would be beneficial for us to be able to cook 6-8 shells at a time. I would purchase another item from cooking.com it was delivered when promised.
