Turn taco night into a healthy fiesta with this Chicago Metallic 1 x 14-in. Nonstick Taco Shell Baking Rack. With four individual taco shell shapers, this rack lets you transform ordinary tortillas into taco shells without the need for deep frying. Simply place the uncooked tortillas on the rack and bake for a crispy, delicious way to serve up beef, steak, chicken or fish tacos. The nonstick surface ensures that each shell will slide off for a picture-perfect finish. Constructed from sturdy stainless steel, this baking rack is designed to withstand regular use. Metal handles make it easy to remove the rack from your oven without spilling the shells. We love the unique design of this piece that lets you make delicious Mexican dishes without the fat. Best Used For: Use this baking rack to create crispy taco shells made from corn, flour or wheat tortillas for savory tacos el pastor. For a more daring taco creation, try blackened shrimp or beer-braised chicken tacos with wheat taco shells. If you prefer a sweet treat on taco night, fill corn tortilla taco shells with caramel or chocolate sauce along with fruits, ice cream and whipped cream for the perfect end to the meal. Features:

  • For the home cook

I am an avid cook and like to make things from scratch. There is a slight learning curve to this. The most important thing is to heat up the tortilla in microwave for 12 to 15 secs., no longer...immediately drape it over the pre-heated taco form. If the tortillas are not "soft" and pliable enough to completely drape over the form, it will just flop off b/4 you get it into the oven...so that's what I learned in order to avoid frustration. The tacos can be cooked and used right away or stored for another time (which makes it easier to prep ahead of time). These taco shells don't crack into a million pieces like the store-bought boxed brand which are too brittle, these are much better...crispy on the outer edges but softer at the bottom folded edge. If you don't like cooking, you may not want to bother w/these, but if you do like cooking--and you know who you are--then it's worth a try.

    I recommend this product.

  • Tacos mmmmm

Ok now that I bought this the commercial show that they have or soon will have flat bottom shells LOL OK it's still a handy item. I use mine upside down from shown. I like to put my meat into them as well before a quick trip to the oven. Then leave it in there to finish with the condiments and then yum yum yum a wonderful taco. I still think it's a great item and yes I would recommend.

  • It's Worth it...

I have never been one to buy many things on-line, in fact, I usually am very skeptical about it. Everyone in my family enjoyed our "new" taco shells. The shells were less greasy and were light and crispy. I warmed up the tortilla in the microwave for 10 seconds and lightly brushed a very small amount on oil on them. We have a family of four with hearty appetites, so it would be beneficial for us to be able to cook 6-8 shells at a time. I would purchase another item from cooking.com it was delivered when promised.

    I recommend this product.

  • Doesn't deliver

It doesn't work very good. The tortillas won't stick to the metal and they crack and are ruined. Ruined at least 4 tortillas trying to make it work.

  • Does not stay on it.

The idea and the construction quality are good, however the surface is too sliperly and the taco shell does not stay on the rack during baking and end up in a odd shape. Yes, I made it soft to drap over, but does not stay on while cooking.

I read the reviews of this product before purchasing and still couldn't manage to get the shells to stay in place. I will keep trying. The healthier aspect of this product is good, however it is one of those items that really only has one purpose.

  • Getting the Right Tortillas

The brand of corn tortillas we normally use did lousy on the rack, spliting, curling at the edges, even when lightly cooked in oil before placing on rack. We went to a thinner corn tortilla and had much better results. The rack is a keeper! The Larson Family

  • Eat healthier

We bought this for my sister-in-law for Christmas because she is attempting to eat healthier. She loves this so much that we bought one for ourselves. It is simple to use and makes great crunchy tacos without all the oil or fat. I recomend for anyone looking to eat healtier and save some $$$ by not having to purchase those premade taco shells off the store shelf. This is a much cheaper and healthier way to do it.

  • Easy Tacos at Home

You can bake tacos in the oven with no oil or use this Taco Shell baking rack to reheat and criisp boxed shells sold at your grocery. For the most yummy shells buy nice, fresh corn tortillas, heat a small skillet with 1/4 cup or so of good oil, canola or olive, warm the tortillas, remove from oil and drape soft tortillas over the backing rack which you have preheating in a 325-350 degree oven.

Bake in oven until they reach the crispness your family likes best, fill with your favorite taco meat mixture, lettuce, shredded cheese and salsa.

  • Taco Baking Rack

This item was backordered for quite a while which made me think this item was a good, popular item. The product was delivered earlier than promised, that was a nice surprise. It is a well made item and I would recommend to anyone who wants an alternate to frying shells. The only thing I would change is to make it bigger so you can make more than 4 shells at a time.

  • Taco Shell Baking Rack by Chicago Metallic

If you are tired of stale corn taco shells from the supermarket, buy this rack and some fresh corn tortillas and make your own. You will have to heat the tortillas so that they will bend over the forms without breaking, and brush on a little oil to get them to crisp. The results are superior in every way to the supermarket brands. Just make sure that you put the rack on a cookie sheet to catch the drips if you use oil.

  • Great for all kinds of tortillas!

We bake corn, flour and sprouted grain tortillas with this product. They all come out crispy, AND we avoid the grease that comes with frying tortillas for tacos or any other Mexican dish. Preheat the rack in the oven to get the best results.
