8 in bamboo skimmer

this is larger than i thought but i will use it

I was surprised to find this one was larger but it makes it easier to remove items from my big soup pots. I had given my first skimmer to my son when he moved into his first apartment.

Little to big for most pots

It is really large! Very effective in fishing pasta out. The handle is long enough to prevent steam burns. The price was excellent.

Was just what I had been looking for, thank you so much. Only thing is the shipping is about the same price as the product. Other than that I am very pleased, thx again. I was a professional just a few years ago, and now retired because of an injury.

Hard to find

I was having trouble finding this item in the stores around my area, so I was happy to see it on foodnetwork.com shop.

My 8 Inch Bamboo Skimmer

I have been looking for this item everywhere. I have seen all the chefs on the food network using it and it was driving me batty because I wanted one. Well I was making my husband drive to all the specialty kitchen stores to find this. Well we found one alright. The ones we found are in no way comparable to the one here. They were smaller and more expensive. The construction of the item wasn't the same either. We walked away from many "skimmers" because I knew what I wanted and I was not going to settle for less when it came to my kitchen toys.

This is way too big.

It is Bigger Than Expected

I should have read the description more closely. The item is bigger than I expected. However, I can use it for other applications and purchase a smaller one for my fryer. It will not go to waste in this house.

Very handy!

So far I've used the skimmer mainly to remove blanching veggies from the pot and rinse them directly in cold water right in the skimmer. I like it very much... it's well made and inexpensive. I definitely recommend it as a quick utensil that you can keep at arm's length that's also easy to clean.

Very nice skimmer easy to use when deep frying. Nice price too. Not much more to say.

I used this skimmer to strain the tomatoes I canned. It worked great.

Large but effective

I guess 8 inches is bigger than I thought! It is quite large, but sturdy and does its job well. It will get much use in my kitchen!

Well, the skimmer is really nice and well made but I had to laugh when I received it... I thought the 8" measurement was the length of the whole thing from skimmer to end of handle not the size of the the round skimmer itself... so it really is huge... but I will keep it anyway because just maybe someday I will use it...:)

Surprised

I was surprised by the size of the skimmer. I was expecting something more finely woven; but, the basket will be useful in frying things such as fried okra. The skimmer is extremely well made.

large bamboo skimmer is not too large

I love this spider--it is a bit large but works fine in the pots I am using. I use it mainly for retrieving boiled foods like home made pirogi and won ton. the stainless is great as I had a very old one and it rusted all the time.
