Very useful item

This skimmer is so handy for getting fried foods out of hot grease, potatoes or eggs out of boiling water, etc. No more fear of splatters or spills! I could not find anything like this at home or discount stores near me & was so happy to find it here, and for such a good price.

I haven't used the product yet. I didn't realize how big it was & really need a 4" skimmer.

I checked all sites who sold kitchen products and Cooking.com was the only site who carried the product. I will be using Cooking.com the next time I am looking for kitchen products.

I bought three of these skimmers. Purchased them, mainly to drain pasta. Had a near accident with a pasta pot and boiling water that overflowed the pot as I was draining it. These are for me and my adult children so we can prevent that happening again.

bamboo skimmer

It is just a little too large for my fry-daddy but I do use it for other things like when deep frying in my wok, etc. It is basically of very good quality. I'm still looking for a smaller in diameter one for use in my fry-daddy.

Too big

by Margaret, AZ
January 6, 2009

this was much larger than I realized it would be-it barely fits inside my standard wok and just barely fits inside the pan I cook my pasta in. Otherwise-it seems very well made.

i was a little taken aback by the size of the skimmer. it is an astonishingly large utensil. my only problem seems to be finding a drawer where it will fit without getting in the way.

The bamboo skimmer is a product I have searched for recently and could not find. I was happy to discover it at the Food Network Store. It is very well made and larger than I imagined. It works like a dream for deep frying.

Good Piece!

I have been looking for a skimmer for a long time. I was really shocked when it came to see how big the skimmer part was. I ordered an 8in. skimmer because I thought the 8in. was the size of the handle not the skimmer. I have sent it back and ordered 2 of the 5 in.So the only complaint I had was if you didn't know what they are talking about in size you will get the wrong one. Then you have to pay the postage and send it back.

This is an oversized skimmer and not practical for the home cook. I didn't realize the diameter is 8" which is much too large for home use.

Every kitchen should have one. I found one smaller, it was too small. The 8" size is good. You might think it's too big for the home cook, but think again. It's perfect for pots of boiling pasta or lifting fried items out of hot oil. Its open mesh design works better than other slotted spoons for many purposes and doesn't melt if left too close to the heat.

Amazed to find this product on the market. Have one from mother in law a bit smaller but not stainless. Not sure how old but many years. Thanks! Ours was getting rusty and needs to be discarded.
