I like the lid as opposed to an open container. I have one for salt and one for freshly ground pepper. The clear glass makes it easy to see which is which, wherein my salt boxes look the same . I also like the way they look on my counter.

Opens very easy with one hand and is large enough to get that pinch out. Closed tightly so as to keep the moisture out.
