The RSVP International 8-oz. Endurance Salt Server features a contemporary appearance perfect for modern kitchens and dining areas. The durable glass construction makes it easy to gauge exactly how much salt is in the container and when refills are necessary. A sturdy stainless steel frame secures the glass and ensures that the product will last. Each salt server has a flip-top lid that lets you quickly and easily scoop out the contents or refill the server for future use, and an integrated silicone gasket prevents moisture from causing salt to stick or melt, keeping air and water out to maintain freshness. The entire unit is dishwasher safe, saving you time when it comes to cleanup, though hand washing helps ensure the longevity of the silicone gasket. Best Used For: Use the salt server for kitchen or tableside preparation of dishes that require gourmet salts. The versatile holder also works equally well with crushed pepper, spices or sugar, giving you a stylish way to store and present popular seasonings and ingredients. Features:
  • Contemporary look is perfect for modern kitchens and dining rooms

  • 8-oz. container is an excellent size for seasonings

  • Different than what Alton uses!

I purchased this based on watching Good Eats, however, this is NOT exactly like Alton's. The handle on this item does not curved down like Alton's; it extends straight out and therefore you cannot easily hold this and open the lid using the same hand so you can get a pinch of salt with the other hand. Alton's salt cellar (available at altonbrown.com) is an easy one hand operation that is exactly like Alton's Good Eats... you can also get the other color versions as well at this site. I don't know why this one is sold here instead of the correct Good Eat's salt cellar.

  • NOT the Salt Server Alton Brown uses

If you search the store by clicking on "Shop by Host" and click on Alton Brown's items, this salt server will come up. However, this is NOT the same one that Alton Brown uses on his show. This one has a very short, straight handle and it's virtually impossible to hold the server in one hand and flip the lid open/closed at the same time. You either have to flip the lip up and then pick the server up or use two hands. The one Alton Brown uses has a longer, curved handle so that you can hold it in your hand and flip the lip open/closed at the same time. If you're looking for a salt server, this is an ok item that's constructed well. But if you're looking for the one that works like the one Alton Brown uses on his show, you will be disappointed.

  • Salt Server Lid

Thought the size of this salt server is nice - not too big to sit on counter. BUT the lid would not close. There was a 1/4" gap opposite the hinge - gasket didn't seem to be the problem - looked as though the hinge wasn't right. M Ward

  • The Best!

Love the AB salt server. Looks nice out on the worktop - nice enough for the table. Holds a good amount. It's got good weight - not at all flimsy, and the tiny spoon is sooo cute!

    I recommend this product.

  • Value

To this question I must answer, "Yes & No." We have watched Alton Brown use this in almost every episode on his Food Network "Good Eats" for a good 6 or 7 years now. I thought the price a tad expensive but this year I decided to splurge. I plan to keep the server on the stove side of the kitchen rather than next to the sink. Hopefully, that will keep it in good working order for a long time. Since I really haven't used it yet, I cannot comment. Perhaps I will add an Adendum to this review . . .

    I recommend this product.

  • Salt Server w/spoon

This is one of those "I gotta have it" items in the kitchen. I've watched the host of "Good Eats"use this item in his TV show and just how handy this salt server is ,also how great it looks. The item protects your salt from the air, keeping the salt ready to use.The price is just right too !

  • I love this size. It sits perfectly on my counter and also adds a nice asthetic dimension. Some had complained that their lids didn't seal very well. Mine seals perfectly. I'm very happy with this product and would highly recommend it.

  • Excellent Salt Server

Just Love the salt server! I actually bought it for my husband as a gift. He loves to cook and loves his kitchen gadgets. We both use kosher salt when we cook so the salt server makes it much easier to use and store. Most salt servers I have seen don't have a handle on them. The handle makes it nicer than the rest!

    I recommend this product.

  • Salt Cellar

Originally purchased after seeing Alton Brown with a similar one. This one is unlike the previous in that there is NO slot for the spoon so the spoon must lie within the container. That's the only negative.

  • New & improved but it isn't

The concept of this is great. The old design is much better. I agree with other reviews...this handle is hard to hold.

  • Just like Alton's but don't need the spoon

This salt cellar will get the job done. It's just like Alton's. The glass comes out for easy cleaning. But, the little spoon that comes with it doesn't have a place for storage- easily lost, and kind of unnecessary. Similar containers have a notch in the lid for the spoon- making it more for jelly or sauces- I'm glad this one doesn't.

    I recommend this product.

  • Cook like Alton!

If having Alton's famous Kosher salt server meant I could cook like him, I would be set! But I now have the salt server and it is most excellent. You can actually get a pinch of salt or any quantity you need for seasoning or recipes. The "jar" itself is heavy clear glass carried in a stylish stainless steel holder. No negatives in this review, I am conpletely happy.

    I recommend this product.

  • Not like alton's!

My fiancé and I are avid food network watchers. We love to watch good eats more than anything because we feel we learn the most. In fact, watching that show inspired him to start cooking. He was dying for the salt bowl that mr. Brown had. Sadly this was not the same one. His has a curved handle and looks easy to open and use with one hand. This product had a straight handle and very hard to hold and use. What a dissappointment for my Alton brown enthusiast. My gift was not a hit. :( Sara S.
