The RSVP International 8-oz. Endurance Salt Server features a contemporary appearance perfect for modern kitchens and dining areas. The durable glass construction makes it easy to gauge exactly how much salt is in the container and when refills are necessary. A sturdy stainless steel frame secures the glass and ensures that the product will last. Each salt server has a flip-top lid that lets you quickly and easily scoop out the contents or refill the server for future use, and an integrated silicone gasket prevents moisture from causing salt to stick or melt, keeping air and water out to maintain freshness. The entire unit is dishwasher safe, saving you time when it comes to cleanup, though hand washing helps ensure the longevity of the silicone gasket. Best Used For: Use the salt server for kitchen or tableside preparation of dishes that require gourmet salts. The versatile holder also works equally well with crushed pepper, spices or sugar, giving you a stylish way to store and present popular seasonings and ingredients. Features:
  • Contemporary look is perfect for modern kitchens and dining rooms
  • Sturdy stainless steel frame lasts for years
  • 8-oz. container is an excellent size for seasonings
  • Glass construction lets you view contents

  • Different than what Alton uses!

I purchased this based on watching Good Eats, however, this is NOT exactly like Alton's. The handle on this item does not curved down like Alton's; it extends straight out and therefore you cannot easily hold this and open the lid using the same hand so you can get a pinch of salt with the other hand. Alton's salt cellar (available at altonbrown.com) is an easy one hand operation that is exactly like Alton's Good Eats... you can also get the other color versions as well at this site. I don't know why this one is sold here instead of the correct Good Eat's salt cellar.

  • NOT the Salt Server Alton Brown uses

If you search the store by clicking on "Shop by Host" and click on Alton Brown's items, this salt server will come up. However, this is NOT the same one that Alton Brown uses on his show. This one has a very short, straight handle and it's virtually impossible to hold the server in one hand and flip the lid open/closed at the same time. You either have to flip the lip up and then pick the server up or use two hands. The one Alton Brown uses has a longer, curved handle so that you can hold it in your hand and flip the lip open/closed at the same time. If you're looking for a salt server, this is an ok item that's constructed well. But if you're looking for the one that works like the one Alton Brown uses on his show, you will be disappointed.

  • Salt Server Lid

Thought the size of this salt server is nice - not too big to sit on counter. BUT the lid would not close. There was a 1/4" gap opposite the hinge - gasket didn't seem to be the problem - looked as though the hinge wasn't right. M Ward

  • Cheap, not worth the price

I wish I had read the reviews before ordering this. In the pictures you can't see the handle. It has a piece of plastic glued sloppily in place. The lid does not sit level on the cup so it does not seal well. I wouldn't mind it if it only cost $10 but at $20, it's a rip off.

  • Handy salt cellar

This is a very convenient gadget for storing kosher salt near my stove. Best of all it is covered and the cover doesn't fall apart like my other salt cellar did. Love it.

We love the salt server! It was a birthday gift for my husband. He was very surprised and he loves it! We no longer get food tv due to cost cutting. We miss it greatly, but now we feel like we have Alton Brown with us in the kitchen. Thank you for offering this item for sale so that it is possible for us to enjoy it in our home. Great Job! Much Appreciated!

  • Who would have ever thought a salt server could make such a difference in cooking? It's so much easier to grab a pinch of salt or measure precisely without having to pour salt from a canister or shake salt from a shaker.

    I recommend this product.

  • Salt Server w/spoon

The product is a bit smaller than I thought, but that is OK. The spoon is worthless. The finish on the lid already had a couple of small spots where the coating was eroding. Frankly, it looks like something one can get at Marshalls's for $4.99.

    I recommend this product.

  • Second purchase of this item to give as gift. First thought is why include such a tiny spoon, but after thought says most of us shouldn't use much added salt to our diets anyway. Great product, good price, both receipients loved it.

  • Just right!

This salt server is just the right size and weight. It does not take up too much space but is heavy and sturdy enough to hold it's own on my busy counter. I shopped around before I made this purchase and discovered this to be a good value.

    I recommend this product.

I agree with others that have reviewed this. Why put that tiny little spoon in there? I see Alton Brown (and most chefs) use their fingers. I like the seal on the jar and am hopeful it will do the job it should.

  • Salt Server With Spoon

The salt server is pretty neat, however the pricing isn't quite right on it. It should really cost around $15 dollars. Additionally, the spoon is too small. But my husband likes the product overall and is happy with it.

  • A Tad Expensive

Although I love the convenience of this item, it is a bit overpriced. I like the ability to sprinkle salt and pepper on my food instead of using a shaker.

  • Excellent!

I purchased this particular product rather than similar on other websites that have been mentioned in these reviews because it was less expensive. I must disagree with the other reviews, this salt bowl/server is terrrific! And yes you can hold it open with one hand and serve with the other. Great size too. Also has done well in keeping it airtight. I highly reccomend this one.

    I recommend this product.
