salt server
Bought this as a gift for my daughter. It arrived in a few short days and was in excellant condition. Not certain why the spoon is included as it is too small for any use. She loves the product.

I purchased this particular product rather than similar on other websites that have been mentioned in these reviews because it was less expensive. I must disagree with the other reviews, this salt bowl/server is terrrific! And yes you can hold it open with one hand and serve with the other. Great size too. Also has done well in keeping it airtight. I highly reccomend this one.

Although I love the convenience of this item, it is a bit overpriced. I like the ability to sprinkle salt and pepper on my food instead of using a shaker.

This is so easy to use and is very attractive on my counter. I would highly recommend this.

I love using this salt-server so much, I use it for all seasonings. The only problem I have with this product is the price.

I wish I had read the reviews before ordering this. In the pictures you can't see the handle. It has a piece of plastic glued sloppily in place. The lid does not sit level on the cup so it does not seal well. I wouldn't mind it if it only cost $10 but at $20, it's a rip off.

If having Alton's famous Kosher salt server meant I could cook like him, I would be set! But I now have the salt server and it is most excellent. You can actually get a pinch of salt or any quantity you need for seasoning or recipes. The "jar" itself is heavy clear glass carried in a stylish stainless steel holder. No negatives in this review, I am conpletely happy.

I think I need a matching one for pepper.

Just Love the salt server! I actually bought it for my husband as a gift. He loves to cook and loves his kitchen gadgets. We both use kosher salt when we cook so the salt server makes it much easier to use and store. Most salt servers I have seen don't have a handle on them. The handle makes it nicer than the rest!

Lid id easy to use and keep things clean. 8oz. container is a good balance between capacity and counter space.

The only knock I have against this thing is the handle . The small tab is a little awkward . I feel as if I'm going to drop the thing If I pick it up and try to open the lid ! This thing would be perfect if it had a handle like a coffee cup . That way you would have a firm grip while opening the lid with your thumb . Keep the spoon and put a better handle on it !

This was billed as the same one used by Alton Brown on Good Eats. It has a tab instead of a handle, which makes it hard to hold and open with one hand. Very disappointing!

Very handy item to have at your arms reach. The small spoon is a waste of time........use your fingers.

so i have been using kosher salt for awhile and wanting a bowl like my hero Alton uses...and tada! food network was happy to sell it to me.....i love the bowl, really don't use the spoon but it's handy for jams n such if you wanted- though small as it is sized for salt. Anyway, use it pretty heavily, and thought the plastic/acrylic tab may not hold, but after 6wks, still no wobble, all is right in my kosher salt world! Thanks food network!

I really like the salt server. I often use freshly ground sea salt when cooking, but when I want to use kosher salt it was always awkward because it came in such a large box with just a pour spout. I would pour it into a small bowl to use by pinching it, but then the salt that was left in the bowl needed to be poured back into the large box (no easy feat with that little pour spout) or just thrown away. This salt server it has a seal, so the remaining salt can just stay in the server to be used at a later time. The spoon is cute but it has no place that it actually "fits" so it is just there. I gave it 4 stars because when you lift it you must be careful to lift from the bottom of the little stand that it sits in. If you mistakenly try lifting just from the bowl, the salt could spill out.

This item would work better if you could pick it up and have it in your grasp (like a coffee cup) before opening the lid. I thought the item a little spendy for what it is and how convenient it is to use.

While a very good looking item, it is almost impossble to hold and open the top using your thumb as Alton Brown does with his. The handle on the item shipped is far shorter than the one Alton uses. The tiny spoon is almost useless; they should have invested the money in a longer handle.

I have always admired this on Alton Browns set. Now it decorates my kitchen.

I wanted a salt server that I could leave on the counter and easily get to. This one fit the bill perfectly and was reasonably priced.
