Studied lots of grinders. Knew the expensive ones were out of my budget but I wanted a "burr" one that would grind uniformly. This one does great. Doesn't make a mess (like some) all over the counter. Lets you select from very fine to very coarse. Looks nice on the counter and doesn't take up a lot of room. Usually can't go wrong with Cuisnart products

As I saw mentioned in several reviews of other grinders before I ordered this one, it does not make a truly fine espresso grind, even at its finest setting. It comes close enough that I give it a good value for the price, but if you want a true espresso grind, keep looking.

I love this coffee grinder. I saw it at my daughter's house and had to order one. I just push a button and the right amount of coffee is ready to be brewed. No more measuring, cleaning the grinder daily, no more mess. And I can store 1/2 lb. of coffee beans in the grinder, see when the supply is getting low and add more. I wish I had known about it years ago.

Very easy to use...very consistent grind...much, much better than the standard blender grinders. As a gourmet coffee drinker, I found that this grinder provides an even richer taste!

Yes, the grinder is on the noisy side, but it is efficient, it is not messy, like previous burr grinders we owned, and the fact that it can hold a half pound of coffee beans and grind up to 18 cups is wonderful. We found, however, that to actually brew 10 cups we need to grind for 14. Not a problem once you realize the conversion. And the price? Fantastic deal.

Made in China, but what are my options!

I looked and looked but could not find a reasonably prices burr coffee grinder that is NOT made in China. I try not to think about how much lead I may be getting each time I use it. Man, I would have even bought one from France, and they aren't on my good list either. Lesser of two evils I guess.

Note to cooking.com - Please provide your customers with reasonably prices products from countries other than China!

Different type of grinder, but a good one.

Like others have said, it is noisy when grinding, but since it only takes a few seconds that is no big deal.

When done grinding, if you tap on the sides of the container before removing, there is no mess made. Also when removing the lid from the grounds container, use the included scoop to push down the fines from around the top. This goes a long way to keeping it and the area clean.

I'm not really happy with it. It is loud, the hopper has to have a bunch of bean in it to work. I use a french press and the course grind setting also produces a lot of fines. Not much better than a coffee mill.

Grind settings

The finest level of grind on this grinder is not fine enough for Turkish or even Espresso coffee. If the buyer is not interested in either one of these and would just be using for the purpose of either drip or french press coffee, then the grinder is very good and a very good value for the dollar. Would definitely not recommend for espresso or turkish coffees.

Great Coffee Griinder

After searching for a good burr-type grinder and having purchased one that was unsatisfactory, I have replaced it with the 8-oz Burr Coffee Grinder by Cuisinart. By contrast with the other burr grinder I was using, the Cuisinart is well designed, sturdily built, takes up minimum space on the counter, holds lots of beans in the hopper, grinds the coffee the way I want it and doesn't cause a mess of grounds on the counter. It's easy to clean and the parts stay together as they're supposed to. I have only 2 small criticisms: grinding is somewhat noisy and the ground coffee hopper is a little difficult to re-insert in the machine. Small problems for a great daily grind!

Burr Coffee Grinder.

I like the Cuisinart coffee grinder. I would recommend they make the On button red so it can be seen. I mean the start button. I used red finger nail polish on it lightly, so it could be seen better.

For the convenience of automation you must, I guess, sacrifice size and uniformity of grind. What comes out ranges from espresso grind to medium grind, when what I dialed was coarse. Because the ground coffee seems to be blown into the output container, emptying it is very messy. In all, not a well engineered product. I'm going to try one more batch (perhaps my machine is a slow learner) and if the outcome is the same, I'm returning it. (The only "family" burr grinder I can compare this to is a Cory, which my father owned fifty years ago. It took longer to change the setting and it didn't measure anything, but the coffee came out exactly the way you wanted it: the proper grind and totally uniform.)

For the grind I prefer you have to put it all the way over to fine grind. So, no espresso grind out of this one. Also, there is so much static while grinding. When you remove the ground coffee container the grounds "fly" all over the place.
It's nice you can push the button and let it go. And it does have a good capacity container to put the coffee beans in.

Having never purchased a coffee grinder before it was a bit difficult to purchase this product, so many different choices and prices that ranged from ridiculously low to ridiculously high. I can say this after visiting Cooking.com after I visited numerous other sites to make this purchase. The information that was provided at the Cooking.com site allowed me to make this purchase with the confidence that I did have all of the information to make an informed intelligent decision. I was able to make this purchase at the right price too. I can also say that the Cuisinart Automatic Burr Grinder is every bit as good as I knew it would be coming from Cuisinart a superior product and a superior company that provides superior support just like the fine people at Cooking.com. Works well, but noisy

This grinder replaced a Krups burr grinder which had become unreliable.

The grinder works very well, but is much noisier than the Krups. We also appreciate the relative lack of static induced mess, which was a problem with the Krups.

Great coffe grinder

Works well. Large capacity hopper. Have used it for everything from grocery store coffee to freshly roasted Jamaican Blue Mountain. Have had not problems. Yes, it is noisy, but what do you expect? You are grinding coffee beans after all. Great product if you are serious about coffee.

Purchased it for $49.99 plus shipping at cooking.com. A few days later saw it at Costco for $29.99. What a bummer! However the product is great and it meets my needs perfectly.
