Grind selection is very good. Selection of amount of coffee desired is less dependable for small amounts - OK for larger amounts. Grinder is quite loud, but very fast.

This grinder does a pretty good job of grinding the beans but it is very noisy and quite messy. In addition the the cup amount slide control does not seem to be very accurate. The coffee comes out much stronger than we like it and we are still trying to find a good cup setting for grinding the correct amount of beans. It can only be adjusted in two-cup increments (minimum of 4 cups) and I'd like to nudge the slider a bit for a more accurate grind.

    Works great!

I wasn't sure really what to expect from this grinder because I had never had one before. I had read where some made a mess and static caused the coffee to fly all over. I love this one. It's super easy to use, doesn't make a big mess and works quickly. The coffee is outstanding when freshly ground as well. I am very happy with my grinder and highly recommend it.

This is the first burr coffee grinder that I have owned, but compared to the vane (propeller) type grinder that preceeded it, it is a profound improvement. The range of grind size is excellent, and now that I have the means to control this, the resulting brewed coffee is worlds apart from what I could previously achieve. Bitterness is no longer an issue!

This product, in general, works well. It grinds coffee without making a mess. It is noisy, but no worse than other grinders I have used. There is one problem though. The interlock which keeps the machine from running without the bean bin is not made properly. The ridge on the bottom of the bean bin is not long enough to fully depress the interlock pin in the base. As a result, the unit doesn't run unless I press down on the bean bin. This is an annoyance in an otherwise good product.

    Looks nice and works well

Good, consistent grind. It can grind very fine, but not quite espresso-fine. Plenty good for coffee. Easy to use, easy to clean.

Just as noisy as the old blade grinders I have owned in the past.
I wish the hopper held more beans, and had a positive, airtight seal.
The seal is no big deal because it only holds about 3 days worth of beans.

All in all, I'm happy with it and it is well worth the money.
If you are currently using a blade grinder, this thing is a huge improvement!

    Finally a good Burr.

I have been looking for a reaonably priced burr coffee mil for some time now. I prefer the burr because of the more even grind. to ahve the automatic features and the variable grind features is an added bonus. Great machine!

No matter which grind I choose, I always get coarse grounds, but also enough fine to create lots of sediment in my french pressed coffee.

I bought the coffee grinder for my husband for Fathers Day. He was delighted. He loves grinding just the amount of coffee that he will use daily.
The grinder does a great job.

Works better then most grinders at the supermarkets and always give you fresh ground coffee. Also easy to use and easy to clean.

Not the most expensive and why I bought it...

    by Bradley, WA

OK lets get right to it...this is NOT a commercial grade grinder. It WILL leave a bean once in a while in your hopper, show some MINOR discrepancies in the grind consistency, But danging people it was less than $50! and in the nearly month of constant use (*over 4lbs of coffee so far!) I have ZERO complaints. I am the most evil product tester on this planet. I built one-off extreme high end engineering computing systems with no tolerance for substandard products...in short I am anal about quality. So far this thing makes the grade for what I expected, ask of it, and needed. If you need absolute perfection in your grind consistency, and want to use it more than I do then pony up the cash and buy a commercial grade unit for 20-100 times as much. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is I get an unground bean once in about every 16-24oz of coffee (*ya 1 in 2-3 bean hopper loads!).,,,Buy It, Use It or do what I do, while the wife drinks the mud this makes...have a cup of whole leaf tea and leave the beans for the less fortunate.

    Great for French Press Coffee

    by Timothy, MA
    February 9, 2007

If you need fresh ground coffee for a French Press, or other brewing methods that require a coarse grind, this is a great machine. The only glitch is that the bean feed to the grinder sometimes clogs. But that happens only about 1 x/month, and otherwise it works and looks great.

My coffee now tastes coffee house!

It's true. You do get a far better cup of coffee with this grinder....actually more than I was expecting. I used to jump out of bed every morning just to beat my husband to the coffee maker because his coffee making skills are so bad. This grinder takes any guess work out of making a great pot of coffee every single time. I have turned into such a coffee snob that I grind a batch of beans to take with me to work every morning....and I covet my own 'coffee house' experience through-out my day.

This grinder is easy to use, it accurately grinds the amount of coffee needed, and it seems to make the grind consistent when not on the finest settings. When the setting is on the finest settings, however, the grind seems to become inconsistent. I have had other burr grinders, and this is one of the better ones. Certainly, for the price, it is the best.

I prefer a burr grinder that runs at a slower speed. The product itself is fine.

I think this grinder is perfect. It has so many settings, is sturdily built and has a larger hopper for holding the whole coffee beans. Of course, it's not quiet but no grinder is. I had a small grinder where you had to measure the beans, manually put them in (no hopper) and then hold down the top so it would grind for as many seconds as you were told to hold it down for. Too much work. This is great because it grinds the exact amount of coffee you need for the exact amount of cups you want. I would recommend it to anyone.

I REALLY HAVE NOTHING TO COMPARE IT TO. IT IS VERY LOUD AND VERY MESSY, BUT IT DOES THE JOB. IF ONE WORKS BETTER, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.

    Better coffee through burring

    by Merrill, GA
    May 10, 2007

After our old blade grinder died, I ordered this burr grinder to replace it. I wasn't sure it would be worth the extra cost, but I'd always heard burr-ground coffee was better. And it is. I've really been pleased with this grinder. The coffee tastes smoother and richer, and the grinder itself is actually easier to use than the blade grinders -- you just push a button and it does the work. Great for early-morning half-asleep people. It even stores the coffee for you. The only minor gripe I have -- and it's very minor -- is that you do need to hold the grounds container over the sink when you open it, to keep from scattering grounds on the counter. Or maybe I'm just uncoordinated. But that's not a big deal. We love this grinder. It was definitely worth the money. In fact, it seems like a bargain now that we've had it a while.
