Made of quality, 18/10 stainless steel, this roaster begins with a vertical roasting stand that attaches to a large, round drip tray (the stand collapses for easy storage). In the center of the drip tray sits a round dish with cone-shaped top. Fill the round dish with herbs, spices, cider, juices or beer; as your chicken rests on the stand, the aromas and flavors from the liquids and herbs pass through the perforations on the cone-shaped top, filling the cavity of the bird and adding moisture to the meat as it roasts. Instructions on using the vertical roaster are included.

Not having tested any other brand, I cannot judge, I am happy with this unit being stainless steel, easy to assemble, my only criticizum would be that it is very hot when getting out of the oven , a larger base could have been safer, or another tray that went along with it.

This product worked very well in our oven and belive it will preform as well on the BBQ.

We tried this last week on the grill with a 4lb chicken. It definitely tasted great!! I just wish there was more room for the liquid. The box also says there are instructions inside but there were none.

I have used various vertical rosters over the years , but none compare to this product. There is no spill nor balancing act to worry about. the infuser is an added plus.

I purchased this for cooking in our "Big Green Egg" -- which is pretty much like cooking in an old brick oven. Unlike other upright chicken/turkey roasters, the stability of this one was its selling point. The outer "cage" is detachable so for smaller birds, I just remove it and set the chicken directly on the infuser. I still put the drip pan in a bigger pan to make sure any juices are caught rather than cripping onto the coals below, but in a regular oven or a large cast iron dutch oven, this probably would not be necessary.
A giant step beyond the little "beer can" cookers, especially since the paints used on beer & soda cans are not someting I want infused into my dinner or caught in the drippings!

I had a ceramic vertical roaster from a famous shopping channel. Part of the chicken didn't cook right and the skin was soggy. The Cooks Illustrated Show rated this vertical roaster in their equipment corner as the BEST so I purchased on their recommendation. It is excellent! I have a convection oven and the chicken cooked well, skin was crispy and meat was juicy - You will never buy a rotisserie chicken again if you use this vertical roaster. It's too bad there is nothing similar for other meats to roast. You don't need a rotisserie.
