Bakers know that the key to a perfect pie has a lot to do with the crust. Say good-bye to burnt edges using this handy Pie Crust Shield. It sits around any 9-in. or 10-in pie and allows edges to cook evenly. The result is a flaky crust without cracking or breaking. Light enough to leave your fluted edges intact and allow heat to circulate through for complete baking.

I wish they had come up with this idea years ago so I wouldn't have had to spend so much time and effort crimping strips of aluminum foil around the edges of my pies.

Great for a pie pan smaller than mine

I ordered this for my 10 in ceramic pie pans. Even though it says it is 10.75-in., it doesn't fit my pie pans. HOWEVER, I think that it is a great product for a smaller pie pan.

So much easier then trying to wrap tin foil, and works wonderfully to let the pie cook without burning the crust. I wouldn't bake a pie without it. I own a ton of them.

Sissy Pie Crust Shield

by Kathleen, CA
February 8, 2007

Tin foil around the edge of a pie has always done very well for me, thank you very much. When I saw the pie crust shield used at a Taste of Home cooking school, I realized I could remove some aggravation from my life and so I invested in one. It's worth it, trust me.

Much more convenient than using foil, but it's a little too big for some of the frozen pie crusts.

Serves its purpose.

This shield easily became bent out of shape while stored in my cabinet, and it was kind of difficult to bend it back into shape to rest level on my pie pan. It protects my crusts sufficiently, but I'll be looking for an upgrade that doesn't get bent out of shape.

I baked my first pie using the shield yesterday. No burnt crust! Bravo! Yet, I wish the shield's circumfirence was about one inch wider because it would better fit on my glass pie pans.

I was not sure how this would work with my 9-in deep pie glass pan with wide handles on the side. I had to set it on top of the glass edges and it still worked great.

They sure beat using tin foil. Edges are a little sharp.

I have not used it yet but I know I will like it. I have been looking for one for quite some time as it is so easy to get the edges of a pie crust too brown.

Obviously, I could have purchased the pie crust shield at several places. This was on my list to purchase for someone. The convenience of purchasing this on line with another item was helpful, as great as it was to order from Cooking.com there is no way I would have wanted the headache to go elsewhere to shop. Thankyou. You make shopping quite easy.
