Baking with a Cedar Plank

I bought this for the first time about a month ago. I was so thrilled with it I bought two more to give as gifts! I had heard of cedar grilling planks and thought they would be neat to try, but I don't grill. I saw the baking plank and decided to take a chance to see what it was like.

I made the salmon recipe from the cookbook that came with the plank and I was shocked at how well the meal turned out. It tasted as if I had spent a lot of time on it, but it really took very little time at all. The salmon was moist and tender and very flavorful. My husband won't eat salmon any other way now. When I put the plank into my oven it makes the whole house smell like cedar.

I really enjoy this product.

A Gift to Me Becomes a Gift for Others

I received one your cedar bakin planks as a gift from my mother-in-law. I have used it non-stop since receiving it. Great product, easy to use, no soaking it in water for hours, etc.

I love to cook and and a good friend and his wife that love to cook as well. I gave him one for his birthday and it was the one gift he talked about all night....

When searching for a second Chinook Plank, I located your Cedar Baking Planks, which were about $10 less, essentially the same size and arrived very quickly. This is a great way to prepare salmon and lots of other foods. I've also enjoyed the bonus cookbook.

Gourmet easy!

This board is so easy to use but produces such tasty results! Cedar Plank Salmon is so good. When my family comes in and smells the warm cedar aroma, they know they are in for a treat for dinner.

Cedar Baking Plank

This is my fourth plank. They are wonderful and last a very long time. I use mine so often, that eventually they become burned on the bottom and start to splinter and then I replace it for a new one. I use it for cooking fish, other meats and roasting vegetables. Everything turns out perfectly!

I love this product, love the fact that I can use it in my oven! It comes with a recipe book, and the first time my husband and I used the plank we did fresh wild copper river salmon with a rub from the recipe book. It was fantastic!!
Unfortunately, the plank began splitting at both ends the first time we used it. Cooking.com quickly replaced it and we are hopeful that the second one does not do the same thing.
If the plank was sturdy and didn't split I'd call it a good value. We can have cedar plank salmon on a rainy day in the pacific northwest!! How cool is that?
I'll happily review the plank again once we try the replacement.

Cedar Baking Plank Review

Another excellent and useful product, a great value for the price. Have spent years doing many species of fish on planks, this is by far the best of the lot. Hands down it is superior in size and quality to any I have used. The recipe book is an added bonus, has many helpful recipes, useful for any skill level. Thanks for an outstanding product.

Cedar Plank

This is the second cedar plank I have bought. This one is going to a friend who liked the salmon my husband cooked on the plank. The plank adds a flavor like no other. Excellent.

not as good as I thought it would be

Very easy to use, gave our salmon a great new flavor.

Recipe book

The recipe book provided with this plank is not well written. I have been using a cedar plank for years. The instructions provided with my old plank are spot on. This book tells you to preheat the plank but does not tell you at what temperature or for how long. I used it for salmon and the book instructs to turn the salmon after 10 minutes. I have never turned my salmon and it's been fine. I didn't turn it this time either and it was fine -- actually very good.

Quality disappointing, recommend with reserva

The plank' back edge was all slivers, including a couple of very large ones which my husband had to sand down so it would be safe to use without huge slivers. Also, the recipe book had nothing to say about seasoning the plank prior to use.
We are anxious to use it for salmon in particular, so we will not be returning it. It was a long wait for this handmade product, and we will use as is.

Product is Decent

I had too high of hopes for the Cedar board. Although it did not really change the flavor, it does keep the food juicy. It's a great way to cook vegetables as well.
