This is Heavy Metal!

by STEVE, FL

I love this thing! Slam your meat into the skillet and put this press on top. It is that simple. Heat and pressure does the rest- kind of like the way nature makes diamonds. This press is huge, like a manhole cover, and really does the job. I even use it to cook vegetables like green peppers and onions. I suggest that anyone who likes to cook own this bacon press. It rocks!

rusts

by Brian, OH

rusts, so I have to remember to dry immediatey after use and washing...otherwise it's decent value. I would prefer it to not have grooves, but it does...I only use it as a burger press

Not Just For Bacon

by Christie, TN
June 14, 2008

I love this product! It fits very nicely in any round skillet and it does much more than keep bacon flat while cooking. I also use it to cook pork loin and chicken breasts & thighs in recipes where you need to pound the meat out thinner. It is great for "browning" meats and fresh vegetables too. Just make sure you do as the directions say... season the press before you use it.

Works great!

I'd never used a bacon press until staying with friends in the Great Smokies. Then I knew I'd have to have one, but finding one was difficult. Cooking.com to the rescue again!! While not quite as heavy as the one I'd used in NC, this one is a great value for the money--and certainly does the job to fit my needs.

It's not just for bacon anymore...

This bacon press is perfect size, perfect shape, is exceptional with the bacon but I am finding it has so many other uses, I wish I would have gotten one a long time ago! I expecially love it for making quesadillas!

Cast Iron Bacon Press

I like kitchen tools that have more than one purpose. This substantial press is not only good for frying bacon, but has enought weight to make panini sandwiches, as well.

Bacon Press Virtues

by Stephen, TX
March 23, 2008

Using the bacon press, you can slow cook the bacon to achieve flat, thoroughly cooked bacon without burning and the (purported) carcinogenic effect of high heat on meat. This press is wide enough (9” circumference) to cover most of the pan and does not have to be constantly moved about. Further, its size dramatically reduces the splatter from cooking bacon. This press is also useful in frying burgers. The weight of the press keeps the burgers from balling up in the center. When I use the press on burgers I get flat, nicely cooked meat for my sandwich.

Looked for a bacon press that was large to fit in a large round cast iron skillet. Of course Cooking.com had it and I love it. Will not go back to cooking bacon without the press. A must have for bacon lovers.

Always wanted one

by William, KY
June 12, 2007

My son inlaw always wanted to know why my bacon was always so flat compaired to his. It used to take a lot of time pressing with a fork but now the bacon press does an even better job. Wait until he sees the bacon now. The press does everything that I expected and fits a 9 inch pan or a griddle very well.

This is very nice. not too heavy, pretty easy to clean. I don't like the writing on the bottom. I am afraid I might not get it clean. But it is pretty easy to clean and very easy to season. Overall it is a good product.

Ok if you use it on a large grill. If yo use iti n a frying pan, the unit drips oil all over when you pick it up to turn the bacon

Excellent tool!

by Francisca, CA

We use the bacon press every time we cook bacon and we are very pleased with the way it works. The bacon stays flat as desired. Because of the size, we also use it when cooking burgers. They stay nice and flat! Clean up is very easy. We store ours in the oven. Too bad it is not available in local retail stores so you can save on shipping cost.

Bacon Cooked the Right Way

by Phillip, TN
November 29, 2009

My 13 year old son goes bonkers over bacon and is always asking me to cook some. I used to dred the job. Splattering grease and unevenly cooked Bacon. Since I received my bacon press, cooking bacon is a breeze. Now I am happy and my son gets more bacon.

Bacon Press?

by Rose, MI
March 16, 2010

First off, wrong size for bacon cooking (unless ya cut it down to fit under the press & then make sure no edges are sticking out to curl. Second the food stuck to the press. Might be good out on the grill for A hamburger or "a paper weight". Just my opinion. Rose (Mightyshopper)

Bacon press

by Roger, MN
February 9, 2007

I was very displeased with the product, in compareing it to my old one. It did not cover the bacon as well and was very hard to season. The design made it sticky in many places. And clean up was a real chore.

Heavy duty. Great for cooking anything that curls.

This is the biggest bacon weight you can find - it's nice and heavy, and does the job well. It can be awkward to take it out of the pan because there is grease everywhere, so I place it on a paper towel next to the stove and that works just fine. Cleans up easily. Fits perfectly inside a lodge 10.5 inch cast iron skillet.

A way to stand

by Len, GA
March 6, 2008

It would be nice if the bacon press had extended flat sides in order to be able to let stand and drain the fat off before washing instead of having to lay flat.....

It's round, it's heavy, and whatever is underneath is going to be FLAT. Bacon won't splatter as much as in an open skillet, cooks more evenly, and/or burns more quickly. It cleans up with a paper towel, but have someplace to put it while it cools off.
