Bakers know that the key to a perfect pie has a lot to do with the crust. Say good-bye to burnt edges using this handy Pie Crust Shield. It sits around any 8.5-in. or 9-in pie and allows edges to cook evenly. The result is a flaky crust without cracking or breaking. Light enough to leave your fluted edges intact and allow heat to circulate through for complete baking. Fits traditional 9" metal pie dish, good for all frozen and homemade pies.

Customer Reviews

Not standard pie size

by Sheryl, FL
June 6, 2009

I bought it because I thought it was a great idea. I was greatly disappointed to find that the lids do not fit tightly, and some, in fact, just pop right off! (I even tried running under warm water to make it easier to form, but no luck.) Big disappointment.

Could not use - turned out to be the wrong size - seemed to be a little overpriced for the item, now that I look it over.

Simple and effective

by Janet, IL

This is a valuable addition to a baker's collection. All pie recipes suggest you protect the crust from burning when baking, and this eliminates the need to wrap scraps of tin foil arond the hot pie. It is so much easier, and the price is right! It is not easy to find this product, either.

Thanksgiving

by Leslie, NY
November 30, 2010

I made 4 pies for Thanksgiving and the pie crust shield kept my crusts from burning. Previously, I wrapped the crust in foil and the foil constantly fell off. I would highly recommend this shield protector because it works!

Buy this product!

I used to use those little foil type pie crust shields and not only did they fall off, they got crust in the little creases and I just threw them out. When I saw these shields, I thought they might not work well but I was mistaken-they are wonderful. I baked two cherry pies for New Year's day and they came out perfect.

Too small

by Patricia, MN
January 15, 2011

I would be perfectly happy if they were a little bigger. I have 9 inch pyrex pie plates and my crusts go right to the edge and I don't think these sheilds will fit.

Is 9" really 9"?

by Jodi, OR
April 9, 2011

Yes it is, but not every 9" pie dish is a 9" dish. Should have measured our new pie dish first. Oh, well!

Pie Crust Shield a Steal

For the low cost of this product, it works exceptionally well, covering the crust ends of your baking pie. I would definitely recommend this product.

Did a fine job and did not fall off or shift during baking, and removed without damage the crust.

Shield for a Pie

by Joan, VA
October 9, 2012

I have been trying to find a 9 inch shield. I bought a 10 inch one but it was too big. I bought the 9 inch shield and it worked very well. I make pecan pies and the crust gets too dark. I had some that came in about 5 or 6 little shields. They didn't work and came off the pie. This one works just like it should.

I ordered this in both sizes and look forward to making another pie. These are sturdy in construction without being stiff and will be really easy to use.

PIE CRUST SHEILDS

by KAREN, NV
January 31, 2013

these are useful but pretty small 9", but actually they don't cover the crust because they outside edge is 9 inches and my pies with crust are slightly bigger than that. Otherwise they do a great job.
