I am in the process of sending this item back. Very dissapointed in the quality. Very thin metal and very sharp looking edges.

Having tried several covered cake pans in the past with cheap quality plastic lids that cracked after several uses, I was happy to find an aluminum pan with an actual aluminum lid that I thought would likely stand up to lots of use. While it remains to be seen how long this pan and lid will actually last, I have to say my early impressions are less than delighted. The pan and lid are made of rather thin aluminum (despite the "professional" designation on the packaging, the weight of the product feels anything but), and the lid does not easily snap on and off the pan - I had to take a butter knife and pry one end of the lid to get it to fit somewhat correctly. The edges of the lid are also surprisingly sharp and need to be handled with care to avoid cutting oneself. The cake my husband baked in it came out evenly browned and done just right, so in terms of baking quality, so far so good. I'm still somewhat disappointed with the quality of the pan - a thicker construction, heavier weight, and more attention to the fit between the pan and the lid would be positive improvements.

Very sharp edges...

by Brenda, LA
December 13, 2006

I was excited to see a pan with a lid that was not plastic, so I purchased two! When I received the pans, I noted the sharp edges without even having to remove the plastic protective wrap. I cannot believe that a company such as NordicWare would send out a product with what amounts to unfinished edges. There is no turn down or lip on the pan, just sharp metal edges. Therefore, I returned my items the next day and would not recommend this item to anyone. But would recommend that NordicWare find a better solution to the edge of this particular pan.

I had to return this item as the edges of the pan were unusually sharp. I love NordicWare products so I was surprised by this. Too bad because other then the edges being sharp it was nice.

Love it

Love this pan and lid. Makes my life easier without a plastic lid that does not warp, melt, or misshape and saves money on foil or press & seal. Of course, since its metal, when you cut pieces of cake or crispy treats, it does scratch fairly easily, but I guess I bought this for function, not fashion!! Seals much better than I had anticipated and keeps things fresh and tasty!!

Nice, but I have seen better

This is a nice pan. But the lid feels really cheap and I have seem better quality before. If you are looking for a cheap gift, this is the one. If you are looking for duribility and quality, get something else.

This cake pan was a light weight also. It was rated as a professional grade in discription. It isn't.

I was really happy to see that you carried the oblong pan with metal lid by NordicWare. I had a similar product years ago and loved it; I used that pan for so many cakes and large pans of bar cookies - I even baked chicken and lasagne in it. The ease of transport with the tight-fitting metal lid was wonderful. Then one day when I took it to a picnic, the lid got dented and I was never able to use it again. I really like NordicWare products and was very pleased that you had this item.

I LOVE THIS PAN

I was so happy that I found this pan I have been looking for one just like it
for a long time. All I could find was one with the plastic lid. It reminds me
of one like my mother had only her lid slid on. This one is even better because it wont slice off the top of the cake.

great!

Great pan! My mother has used hers for 30 plus years for everything, and I expect that I will be able to do the same. The lighter-colored aluminum is great for baking because it reflects heat and prevents the bottom of whatever you're making from burning (especially cinnamon rolls). Also, the lid is wonderful.

Best Cake Pan by Nordic Ware

I like this pan so much that I plan to give it as a gift to my daughters. Cakes rise beautifully and evenly...no sinking or peaking in the middle. Great!
Thank you!

Cake Pan

by Brenda, LA
November 21, 2008

I was having trouble with my cake baking. The cakes were not cooking in the center, but they were cooked on the outer edges. I am a very good baker so I knew it had to be my pan. I tried one of my glass baking pans and lo & behold the cake did not dip in the center. I purchased the pan because I needed a metal pan. I am very satisfied with this pan. The very first time I used it, my cake turned out beautifully.

My third one

by Douglas, MO

I appreciate the snap on metal lid, more durable than pans that come with a plastic lid. Also, the lid can be used for a baking sheet.
I sometimes make up meals in pans and freeze for later. In these pans, I can stack several pans.
Cooking quality - I do not have a problem with cakes cooking faster in corners; cakes cook evenly in these pans.
Overall, I do prefer to use glass pans for foods that have acidic ingrdients, like lasagna.
I do not like using non-stick coated pans, as those interior coatings tend to deteriorate.
I have not been able to find a pan like this in local stores for years, so I am thankful I was able to find this pan at cooking.com

Love this cake pan!!

by Beverly, KY
February 28, 2010

I recently bought the Nordic Ware 9 x 13 cake pan with lid. It is almost impossible to find an aluminum cake pan and I was so thrilled to find this one. I have baked several cakes in it and it is great!! Cake does not dry out around the edges or turn dark on the bottom like it does with a coated cake pan. It is well worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone who does cake baking.

Cake pan

I needed a new cake pan and I couldn't find one like the one that I had used for the past 40 years. So I found this one and it will do but it still isn't like my old one. They just don't make them that good anymore.

It's so hard to find a NON-non-stick pan these days. This pan was exactly what I wanted. NO non-stick.

I hope NW keeps making other pans like this one.

These pans are wonderful. It is nice to have a lid that can go in the oven. They are little more expensive than I like but are very handy to have in the kitchen.

9X13 Cake Pan, w/lid

by Jeanine, VA
January 3, 2011

Love, love this cake pan. My son, who loves his Auntie Kelly, gave my pan to her, so I had to purchase a new one for me. Do not put this pan in the dishwasher - it will get dull causing everything to stick. Otherwise, it is a terrific cake pan. I would highly recommend purchasing this product to anyone.
