| Feed your holiday guests comforting risotto made with mushrooms and sliced chicken breasts. Made the traditional way, this risotto gets its flavor from white wine, chicken stock and Parmesan cheese. Fresh parsley or chopped scallions stirred in at the end will add a bright green garnish.
A crisp refreshing salad of cooked green beans, shaved fennel and lemon vinaigrette is a crunchy complement to the richness of the risotto. Alternately, the fennel can be omitted and substituted with thinly sliced shallots.
This simple cake made in a single nine-inch round cake pan may not look like it will feed many people, but it is so dense and rich, thin slices are plenty for even dessert-loving guests. Top the cake with a dusting of confectioners' sugar or an orange-scented whipped cream. |
