This is quick, easy, and delicious. I bake it like a cake and it comes out great.

This is a good recipe, however, as the pudding, in itself, is already very sweet, I would suggest that you cut out the cream and warm syrup and revert to the traditional accompaniment of English Custard (hot).

Syrup and custard should also be served with plain steamed pudding, i.e. the recipe without the addition of fruit. That is a London dish known as Steamed and Syrup.

This is the traditional Irish dessert, also known as Sweet Cake, Curnie Cake, Spotted Dick or Railway Cake.

I first made this over 5 years ago and it happened to be the first recipe I baked in a water bath. Didn't know how it would turn out but I was pleasantly surprised.

I believe I used raisings as a substitute for currants in my first attempt, but have since mixed it up with other dried/drained fruits.
