I am the designated "pie chef" at Thanksgiving & I wanted to try this but not on T-giving in case it was a dud. I'm glad I tried it & the overall consensus was that it was OK but definitely not as good as the regular Libby's version. I think part of the reason for the mediocre response was the lack of spicing; I even added some cinnamon b/c I thought that just a bit of Pumpkin Pie spice wasn't enough for flavor. The buttermilk did give a bit of tang which also seemed out of place.

Made this last Thanksgiving and it was a BIG hit! I think the buttermilk gives it a little savory tast.

Is the pie shell baked for 15 min at the lower temperature and cooled before adding the filling? Have not tried the recipe yet as I need this clarification - delete rating
