Missing instructions

This recipe sounds very good. But I think part of the instructions are missing. It says to reserve 1 cup of the sauce. What do you do with the rest of the sauce? If basted on the chicken during cooking there is a chance of burning. So when do you apply the sauce and how long do you grill the chicken?
