Basic Berry Filling

Yield:  Enough for 8 biscuits
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 cup strawberries
1 cup blackberries
1 cup raspberries
1/4 cup sugar, or to taste
Fresh lemon juice (optional)
Other necessary recipes:
Basic Whipped Cream Basic Shortcake Biscuits
DIRECTIONS
Put fruit in a bowl and sprinkle with sugar. Toss it lightly just to mix, then cover the bowl and let it sit for about an hour at room temperature. The sugar will draw the natural juices out of the fruit, making a tasty liquid for moistening the shortcake biscuits.


Taste and add lemon juice if you like.
