Active Time:  10 Minutes
Total Time:  1 Hour 55 Minutes
Yield:  Yields 2 cups
While an authentic granita will have an even smoother texture, this method produces similar sensation on your palate. This granita is wonderfully refreshing and a beautiful color. Serve it after a meal or in between courses; either way, it is a delightful, light treat.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
2 hibiscus tea bags
3 tablespoons sugar
2 cups boiling water
DIRECTIONS
Place the tea bags and sugar in the bottom of a Pyrex 2 cup measure and pour the boiling water over it. Stir to disolve the sugar and let the tea brew in 15 minutes. Remove the tea bags and pour the liquid into a pie plate. Place the pie plate in the freezer and freeze until it's slightly slushy around the edges, about 30 minutes.

Use the tines of a fork to scrape the ice in toward the center and break up any lumps that form. For the next hour, continue this process, scraping the ice as it forms every 15-20 minutes. Once the granita is fully frozen, blend it once more in the food processor or blender.
