REAL CORNBREAD
I KNOW BEAUTY BELONGS TO THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER SO PERHAPS TASTE BELONGS TO EATER! HOWEVER MY GREAT-GREAT GRANDMOTHER, GREAT GRANDMOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND MOTHER WOULD ALL TURN OVER IN THEIR GRAVES IF YOU USED sugar IN THE INGREDIENTS TO MAKE "CORNBREAD" YOU CAN CALL IT "JOHNNY CAKE" BUT IT ANI'T CORNBREAD! ALL THESE FINE WOMEN WERE FROM ARKANSAS. THE CORNBREAD ONCE PREPARED THEN ALSO HAD TO BE COOKED ONLY IN A CAST IRON SKILLET!

Delicious!
This cornbread came out moist and very tasty. I added about 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla. This will be my regular recipe for cornbread from now on. It's great with red beans and rice.
